Will these fit on a Trail edition

I really like these Wheels and was wondering if they will fit on a Trail edition.
The specs are:
17X8 Rims
6 X 5.50/139.7 Bolt Circle
4.50 back spacing
0mm Offset

I contacted Black Rock about those Viper wheels for the 4th gen and they said they will not clear the calipers. Probably best to email them directly to get an answer.

There was an FJC owner who had them on for a short time, but needed a set of Spidertraxx to allow them to fit.

I agree... 17x8 with zero offset is the ideal size. Especially if you are considering a larger tire.

What do you have planned for your Trail?

I plan on doing Wheels/Tires
Intake and Exhaust
Horn
I need it more for the Ski trips. camping. Ice fishing then offroading so I won't be putting a lift kit on it.

That doesn't make sense to me unless there's something with the wheel construction that makes it different than other 17" wheels. You can't go less than 17" on a 5th gen w/o caliper issues but 17" should work just fine. An 8" width with a 0mm offset would result in backspace of 4.5" - exactly stock.

Compared to the factory 17x7 wheels you'd stick out 1" closer to the street but no closer to the engine.

doesn't make sense to me either. my wheels are 20x9" wide with 5" bs with no issues. BFLAN just mounted the same wheel at 17x9" with 4.5" bs with no issues with the caliper either.

my suggestion is to go to a shop that has this wheel and ask them to test fit on your truck, it's the only way you'll find out for sure.

Guys, we confirmed this with the manufacturer.

It has to do with the construction of the interior of the wheel. Not all 17's are alike. There is a Mickey Thompson 17" wheel that also does not work on 4Runners as well.

These Viper wheels were probably designed for a Chevy/GMC which normally has around a 5.5 inch backspace to bring the wheels out an inch, but their calipers are still in an inch which gives more clearance.Just the design of the wheel assembly.Kinda hard to explain,you have to envision it!.They do have the same bolt pattern as Toyota but smaller hub bore.

Caliper Clearance (X-factor): The amount of clearance built into the wheel to allow for the vehicle’s brake rotor and caliper assembly.
I have no idea how to measure it.

both explanations provide clarity. i saw this exact wheel at my off-road shop today when i got my suspension install rechecked. looks pretty good, and i could've asked to test fit it. moot point now. guess this guy has to keep on searching then....sorry man.

I'm just writing what Black Rock told me over the phone. Their Viper wheel was my second choice for my 2010 SR5, after finding out that the BBS 17" x 8" (FJ Cruiser wheel) wouldn't clear our calipers also. Oh well, I'll keep searchin' for the "perfect wheel" that fits my style.

I know they wont clear tacoma calipers either, however a buddy of mine has them on his. He just had to do some minor grinding and now they fit just fine.

Does he have the 17" x 8" Black Rock Viper wheels, or the BBS RD Truck wheels ?

Also, could you find out where he had to grind off, on the caliper itself ?
Possibly post some photos ? I would consider doing this if it didn't jeopardize the structural integrity of the caliper. Thanks

He had the 17x8's, I cant get any pics though. He's still up in NC and I've moved on, but I remember it was somewhere right where the yellow squiggles are.

He had a toyota performance shop install all his parts so they were the ones that actually did it, but it should be an easy thing to do.
