Will these speakers fit 3rd gen front doors?

Howdy all,
Im looking at some new speakers for my 98 4runner.

Will these Alpine marine units fit you think?
They say they are 7' but im not sure about how much room i will have to work with.

Well, the front speaker size is 6 3/4's, so I would imagine they won't work without some modification of your door panel.

I think these will be too big, you would really need to modify the mounting surface on the 4runner. Take a look at a build thread I did here:

scroll down and you will see a closeup pic of the front door mounting panel and you will get an idea of what you are working with. Keep in mind even if you bypass the stock mounting holder and mount directly to the door you will have depth issues because of the window tracks.

fwiw, I had to trim the door panel a little bit just to get my Pioneer 6.5's in there. My door looked different than in that link though.

I am pretty sure you need either 6.25" or 6.5" front speakers. The rear are only 4" with a plastic adapter but you can fit 6x9s with very minor trimming

Go to crutchfield.com put in your year and they will list the speakers that fit. They are *very* good.

If you are going with an aftermarket deck I recommend you run new 14 gauge speaker wire to all the doors. It is really easy and you will already have the door panels off. The Toyota wiring is pretty pathetic.

I am running Infinity Kappa 6.5" components and Kappa 6x9 in rear with an Alpine V-12 amp behind the drivers seat.

You might not want to go with the Kappas but the reference are pretty awesome as well.

If you are still running a stock deck then don't put aftermarket speakers in.
