Will this ever end???

Hi!

OK, back to dealer for new seat covers ...

When the dealer was fixing the window trim, they broke the roof rack. They fixed the roof rack, and used a screwdriver to pop the old "dealer broken" section off. (Damaged the roof rack.) Dealer stated that since it's not "Like to door or the hood" that they see no point in fixing it. But they used some black touch-up paint on it. They offered an oil change or to wash the car instead.

Back to dealer to fix sun roof. In the process, they manage to get grease on the head liner, but sun roof works. Per the dealer, "The vehicle does have 23,000 miles on it, and that's just wear..."

As they drove the car off, the BELT started to make the noise. . . I yelled for the service manager to stop. . . I looked at the service writer, and said there's the noise.... He told me to tell the service manager.... Of course, he "Couldn't hear it..." But the other four of us in the BUILDING could. Now, it's going back AGAIN to fix the belts. CRAP!

Sounds like your problems are more the service department than the truck. Is there somewhere else you could take it?

It's definately worth driving a little out of your way to go to a better service department. I might even call Toyota corporate to complain about this one.

:iagree: Give'm the ole :flipoff: and tell'm to kiss your :moon:.

You need another service department. Plain and simple.

I said the same thing in one of his other threads:confused:

must like punishment:confused:

Four so far . . .

Yes, you all have giving the same advise. I'll admit I'm not always the sharpest tood in the shed, but ...

San Francisco Toyota is where we bought it. They were the third dealer who finally agreed to change the seats. We moved 60 + miles from that dealer.

The Santa Rosa Dealer is the one who did the $6,100 in damage to the break system changing the oil. Then accused the car of being broken in to and some phantom putting power steering fluid in to the break system. They fessed up to another report of the same problem, but not doing it.

The Petaluma dealer is the one who tried to fix the window trim, broke the roof rack boot, fixed the roof rack boot, damaged the rails and fixed the stuck sunroof. They were also the ones that said the TSB were just a place to turn if they could not find a fix. But, now I'm stuck with Petaluma because they are the ones who have odered the new belts & pully. They have also agreed to pony up and replace the damaged rail. That one is going to cost the dealer a bunch. They have to replace EVERYTHING on that rail.

When discussing this problem with the store GM, he stated that I should give the truck a break, that all car's need to be maintained on a regular basis. I have news for him, the 1997 Limited I owned had 90,000 miles when I got rid of it. It had it's scheduled oil changes, one tire change, and the major services. Oh, and the middle dash light bulb blew. THAT'S ALL. The Tacoma and Camry had maybe the same done to them.

The Novato Dealer - The best so far - put the new seat covers on. I may have to go back to see them now since the rear lift gate motor is making a really bad GRINDING noise when it un-locks and opens.

The crap that was handed to me about the truck getting old since it has 23,000 miles on it was really a punch in the gut. It's just finally getting ready to be used.

The best new cars were supposed to be the best used cars ... Right?

Has it been in the shop for more than 30 days for repair of safety related issues? If so, call a Lemon Law attorney and get your money back.

Otherwise, you only have two choices.

1) Deal with the problems and the crappy service providers in your area.
2) Sell the truck (probably for a loss) and get on with your life.

Call TOyota directly at the 1-800 number and open a case file on your truck.
List the problems and they will have a dealer call you.
You can keep a record with Toyota directly.

I agree with everyone else though, it sounds like dealer service problems not too much on the actual truck.

"How many parts does it take. . . ."

So, all my parts came in to fix the belt noise. All the parts came in to fix the scratched roof rack that the dealer did. I scheduled my appointment for next Tuesday to have the work done.

However, apparently, my 4Runner missed the shop, and the sun roof rammed it's self into the headliner (AGAIN) and will not come out.

This car has a mind of it's own! And it's really bitter! I'm driving a Ford wagon. It's actually a nicer feeling then the 4Runner! ;):

"The best new car's do not always make the best used cars..."

THINK BEFORE YOU BUY ONE OF THESE "NEW AND IMPROVED 4RUNNERS!!!"

I don't believe a word of what you say after that statement:bs:

Just sell it

If the dang thing is that much trouble, sell it and be done with it. It sounds like the 4Runner has a few things wrong with it that the stupid morons at the service dept. keep screwing up even worse. Take it to them once to fix and they screw it up, shame on them. You take it back with something else wrong, you just became the moron.

As far as a Ford wagon or any Ford for that matter driving better than a 4Runner, now I know you are dillusional...

:guitar2:

It has to run before I can sell it

You know, we have been attempting to sell it. But, (And I kid you not) every time I state that I will bring it to the car lot, it breaks. I want it to be at least running before I can sell it.

As for the Ford wagon statment, it is true. The seats don't launch, and it runs. At this point, running and running correctly is a huge plus for me.

I have checked the resale value on these "New and Improved" 4Runners, and they are not the same as the 3rd generation.

We would have to have PAID $11,000 to get out of it! So, private party or the auto auction it will go. But I honestly can not do it with out it being in running order.

As I have stated before, I do not dislike Toyota. Just this one. My prior Toyota's have been GREAT! But, this one SUCKS!

Do yorself a favor. Go to the dealer at 8 p.m. on the last day of the month and trade it in on a new car. They will barely look at your trade and they will be anxious to go home with another deal made.

I've had several cars in my life, and six of them have been Fords. I will tell you that my current 4runner is the best ride of all the cars I've ever had. I agree with everyone else, sell it and be done with the trouble of dealing with it.

Nice ....

Wait until yours falls apart . . . We'll see who has the last laugh! :p

As for a Nissan, will not ever happen. Thanks for the offer. I'll probably buy another 3rd generation 4Runner and drive it into the ground.

Then I'll laugh at all the 4th generation people. ;):

Sad4O, whatever happen to the website that you setup to show all these complaints?? You deleted the thread.

One thing...Sad4O, please do not use this forum as "evidence" in your case against Toyota.

Post problems once and only ONCE! I will delete ALL of your posts if you do not follow this rule.

Thanks.

Daddy Speaks!

I love it! I was worried I was the only one feelin' bitchslapped by
this W2W tirade. I read 'em all for a coupla months, finally reached my saturation level.

If I'm gonna listen to stuff like his, I will be WELL paid. That's why we all have jobs. I ain't listening for free.

Evidence? I was thinking mo' like witnesses for the defense!

Besides, I was the 1st one to REALLY figure out what was wrong with his truck.
