Will Toyota ever make a TRD Edition 4Runner?

They have a TRD Edition Tacoma, Tundra, and even FJ... what about the 4Runner? All they'd need to do is get a Sport Edition and go from there! I'd love to see a V8, 4X4, with all the usual TRD bits. In fact... I'd probably trade in my '05 for one! Anyone else? :driving:

I'd love too see it but it's unlikely. You gotta make your own. The 4Runner could even lose more of it's off road prowess with the next gen models now that the FJ is out.

I hate to say it... because it would go against all things 4Runner... but why not make the subsequent 4Runners more like 4 door FJ's? I think the 4Runners need more off-road looks and capability. If you want something more on-road... get a Lexus GX470! :headslap:

Toyota isn't going to make the 4Runner compete against it's sales champ that the FJ has become. The writing was on the wall when the Runner lost the 5 speed,locker and was lowered an inch in '01. It'll always be capable off road but it'll take the aftermarket to assist in it's capabilities.

There isn't enough to make the Runners wheels squeak when only about 1% of them see off road and I don't think Toyota will look back since the off road crowd has been crying about the 4th gen since it came out and with the next gen more people will be crying.

My friend works for Toyota (in the corporate office,not dealer) and he says the Runner might lost even more of it's off road prowess with the '09 model but if more scream loud enough they may get enough emails to encourage more dealer prepped packages for the the Runner but it'll come at a price. They really need to drop the FJ manual and locker equipped driveline in a 4Runner since it's already ready to go.
