Will TRD Cold Air Intake pass smog in California?

I was thinking about picking up a TRD cold air intake for my 08 sr5, but I'm not sure whether or not it will pass smog in California? Anyone have any experience with this?

I read around these forums that it WON'T pass smog. But the Toyota website advertises that it is emission legal in all 50 states.

Please let me know if any one out there has a definitive answer for me. Thanks!

The CAI won't negatively affect the emissions coming out of your tail pipe but it might fail the visual check because the Hydro-carbon filter (HCF) is no longer present. If your not familiar with the HCF then a search will yield you plenty of results

For any aftermarket part that *might* affect emissions, always refer to the CARB website. Anything you put on should have an E.O. number associated with it. If it doesn't, then there's a decent chance it won't pass smog. From what I can tell the TRD CAI model number pTr03-35090 has EO D425-43, and is legal, provided installed according to the instructions and no other modifications to it were made.

Do the TRD CAI's for the 5th gen pass smog in Cali? I saw the ARB report but it was for 10-13.

You should be okay with things that are CARB certified and have a sticker on them, otherwise you'll certainly fail the visual inspection.
