Winch Wiring Problem

Hey All,

I finally got around to wiring up my winch today and there are some weird situations going on. When I turned the switch on with the controller unplugged, the motor started engaging inwards on it's own. When the switch was on and the controller plugged in, the motor engaged inwards on its own again, and it stopped when I pushed the "out" button on the controller. Neutral and in still kept the winch pulling in. When the switch was off, the controller functioned as usual.

Essentially, the winch works the way it's supposed to when the switch is off as though it were on. When the switch gets turned on, everything gets screwy. It's an Engo pw10000 if it makes a difference, any ideas?

Double check all your connections, I have a feeling it was wired improperly. Do you have the instructions and what wires were tapped into for control?

I assumed the wiring was off. I'm working off of the wiring diagram given from Engo. The wires were already put together on the solenoid.

what switch are you talking about?

I am unfamiliar with that specific winch, is there a power switch separate from the control cable?

Turns out everything is wired correctly, part of the function of the winch was for a constant on for the pressure washer use, while the other use was for a normal winching function. There is no "off switch", it's just the switch for the washer. I just ordered a DPDT on-off-on switch, so I'll wire that up to be able to have it be "off" until I need it, then just switch on for either winch or aux.

That's one way to make your product stand out from the crowd I suppose!
