Winches - Engo E9000s vs Warn VR8000

After my flop, I've come to Jesus. I'm getting a winch.

It's a tossup for me between the Engo E9000 with synthetic, or the Warn VR8000 with steel cable. They're the same price. I've seen the reviews and the head to head tests. I'd prefer the name brand of Warn, but I'm liking the idea of synthetic cable and the extra 1000lb rating too.

It comes down to this - is the Warn VR series as dependable as the more expensive models? Is it an entry level winch because it's lacking a few bells and whistles, or is it an entry level winch because they cut corners to bring the price down?

I would go with the synthetic equipped winch personally, I currently have an engo 10s, its loud but it works. I probably would buy a TJM Stealth if i could do it over.

The Warn VR winches are still "assembled in the USA" but they contain the same junk chinese parts that all the other bargain winches have, to get the cost down. They do however still carry Warn's limited lifetime warranty. Its a bargain/occasional use winch.

Only problem I had so far is a rare controller malfuntion where the "out" button stopped working

Used my Engo 10S twice yesterday to winch out jeeps. Loud and slow but it got the job done, the synthetic line was nice to handle without gloves and worrying about being sliced open by razor sharp wire fray.

I used the Engo 9000s on my last rig. Worked great, yeah it's a tad slow, maybe a tad loud. But it pulled without issue. For the price with synthetic line i don't think you can go wrong. After seeing a steel cable snap, i can't bring myself to use a steel cable.

At the end of the day as long as it pulls you out of the problem who cares what logo it wears or how loud it is.

I have a Engo and I got to say the customer service is outstanding!
I had a problem with my wireless not working in just out when I called the guy ( sorry bad with names ) got my address and sent me a new one right away
I've only used the winch one time and it worked great
