Window motor rehab?

On my back passenger door Ive traced a faulty window problem to the motor the screws onto the window regulator. I was wondering it that motor is refurbishable or is it just a disposable part? It acts like a dying battery, when you switch it on it starts strong but then fades as if there is no more juice. Thoughts?

It's possible that window motor can be repaired, but it's likely less labor and hassle just to replace it.

You can simply try another used one -like from a salvage yard or look up the part number and then shop for best price new.

I use Toyota Parts Zone for my Yotas as I feed it my VIN number and then it shows me diagrams and then the specific part number. Discount Toyota Parts seems to always be a good price and TRDPARTS4U.com is in Texas and seems to have good prices as well.

With all things electrical it's always wise to talk this out with several folks just to be sure of the trouble you think you are having. Otherwise you could just be throwing money down the drain if you discover it is not the motor itself. Checking voltage and so on at the motor to be sure it is getting a constant 12 volts or whatever is required is a smart ounce of prevention.

Good luck and keep us in the loop as this develops. If you need further help I am doing replacement of my drivers side window motor for my MR2 now so I am pretty well versed with window motors now....In that case I did have it rebuilt as a new one was over $200 and repair was only $44 in labor.

So explore all your options thoroughly....
