Window tent for '03

I have an 03 4Runner with rear privacy glass and am wondering if anyone has gotten their front windows tinted. If so what percent and how does it look?

Also, I am looking at wet okole seat covers. I have never sat on or felt neoprene seats. What is everyone's opinion on them? TIA

Check with your state's law regarding window tint.

For all practical purposes, 30-35% tint has probably the best balance (view at night, sun protection)...and legal in most (if not all) states. The rear privacy glass is about 30% tint.

Just a note (which i have to remind myself constantly): the lower the percentage, the darker the tint. Ex: 10% tint is much darker than 35%. Limo tint is about 10-15% i think.

I just got 35% on my fronts. They're not as dark as the rears, but that's the maximum my state allows. (I've been pulled over before for my tint, so now I'm more careful.)

I've heard that 30% is pretty close. I'm sure your local tinting shop will know for sure.

good luck,

Thai, the number refers to the amount of light that is let through, if I recall correctly. Thinking about it that way helps to keep it straight.

I had mine tinted 15%, but I agree you should check the tint laws in your state first. The only problem I had with matching the rear tint is hard to explain but I'll try, not to mention I'm the only one who seems to notice it but I am picky about these things so if you are too you might notice. The factory tint is a very flat black, the aftermarket tint was almost mirrored looking. It wasn't mirrored tint, just had more of a silver hue to it. It's only noticeable from certain angles, but you might want to ask your tint place to put a sample on the window for you before they do it. (if you want to see pics of my tint you can check the gallery) As for the neoprene seat covers, I bought wet okoles 2 weeks ago and still waiting for delivery, but I'll post pictures and what I think soon.

Here in Colorado the tint law says 27%... tho I've seen it much darker... as low as 15-20% ... Technically it should be 27% all around, but the shops have legally been getting by w/ 27 on the fronts when the car comes w/ factory dark glass behind the driver. Otherwise the we can have it as dark as as we want behind the driver, (ie; 5% Limo) but the fronts would have to be clear. How dark the shops will go depends on the color of your interior and if you have a sunroof. (leaving the sunshade open makes the darker tint look lighter than it really is during daylight, allowing you to stretch the law a little) I let them put the standard 27 and it looks okay. If it were too much darker, I'd have to roll down the window to see certain things at night. (oh wait, that's what the 10M candlepower spotlight should be used for, huh?) :D
