Window tint price?

Has anybody had all their windows tinted on a 2nd gen? The first quote I got was $285...Seems kinda high. What did y'all pay?

That's not bad if the place is reputable, I assume for the whole car (excluding the windshield)?
 
That's just about what I paid. It's 9 windows, so it's going to be a bit pricier than a smaller car.

I think I would find one of those pre-cut tint deals on Ebay and do it myself for that kind of money.
I re-did the front 2 windows on my T100 for $15 including shipping. I could have done the entire truck ( extra cab, sliding rear window ) for a total of 7 windows for $35 including shipping, but only the front 2 needed replacing.
 
Window tint is one of the things I do not trust myself with.
I have done the install of all electronics myself and done everything mechanical myself or with help from friends, but the window tint is something I don't want to touch.

I didn't want to risk the unprofessional look that I most likely would attain, had I done it myself.
In short: It was worth the money to me, personally.

Ahmen! Jeez if your that cheap, do it your self and deal with the imperfections. If you want it done right....pay some money and have a professional do it!!
Oh....was the 285 for all the windows????
 
$285 for all windows is about right. I paid $60 just for the front two to make them match the rest. I also agree on the do-it-yourself kits. In about a year, it will start looking like a do-it-yourself kit. Spend the money and let the pros do it.
 
Prices for stuff like that is going to vary depending on location.
It doesn't matter what someone in Texas may have paid if you're in Oregon or Maine or wherever.
Just call a few local shops and go with the best deal.
 
for sure, I have had one guy do all the cars Ive ever owned. Nice guy on the border of the ghetto, but a decent price and great work always, I didnt pay over $2oo for my 05 all the way around.
 
I paid a shop to do a full size '85 window van for me back in '93 and it started bubbling in about two years and no longer looked pro. Don't know if tinting should be considered permanent.

That's actually incorrect. Type of film and percentage will vary the price.

It depends on the shop, but typically an illegal tint job will cost more. So, if your state's laws allow you to have 30% all around, then the pricing can vary if you have a legal tint job or not. As an example, 30% can be the same price as say, 35%; however, 15% or 20% will be more expensive than 30% (although, 15% and 20% may be the same price).

Again, this is shop dependent.

Ceramic films will cost more than metalized or extruded dyed films which cost more than dyed films.
 
Well yeah, I was assuming the same "type" of film would be used. Of course there are better and worse brands of tint.

Around here the price is the same. I guess in states that have really strict laws like CA, NJ, etc... prices could vary a lot more.
