windshield cracked - need replacement

I'd say there is from my experience at least. I have a Safelite replacement right now that's fairly new. It looks like I've driven through major sandstorms already, very hard to see through when driving into the sun. Next time I'll go OEM.

On my 3rd as well, haven't seen a difference. Just make sure the installer takes care of any issues found. Last guys told me there was rust to handle.

The only thing I can say is shop around. You'll be glad you did. Take an hour, call as many glass shops as you can tolerate to call, write down their price, and at the end choose from the top lowest priced by reputation. I just changed mine last week and the first place I checked quoted me $590. I ended up calling around 60 shops within an hour's drive to get a good feel of the market, turns out that the lowest price was $295 and the highest was $780. Keep in mind, there are very very few manufacturers of automotive glass, most of the time an OEM "replacement" is made from the same production factory as the OEM original glass, it just doesn't meet the strict quality control guidelines for Toyota. Doesn't mean its less safe, less reliable, or of lesser quality. When you're saving 50% by shopping around, it also means you can change it twice for the same amount of dollars.

shop around, usual replacement is about 200-300, atleast here in northern part of california, just make sure they do a good job during the removal and install, my first issue is that when they dont use enough adhesive on the top, you will likely have a leak later on. im on my 2nd replacement so far, and its holding up fine for a aftermarket. this last job the installer notice that the 1st replacement was a shitty install. thats why i only paid 175 for it, the saying goes you get what you paids for.

If my windshield gets broken my comprehensive insurance coverage pays for it and my deductible is $50. Do you not have comp insurance?
