Windshield replacement

Guys,
Just bought an 06 Limited. However, the windshield that was on it first had to have been replaced because there was so much distortion when I looked out. It drove me mad! I believe it was a PGR(sp?) or something, as it didn't have the factory Toyota emblem on it. When I would drive at night and saw a car approach me, I could tell it was distorting because I saw 2 headlights on top of 2 headlights. This sounds crazy but thats how much distortion there was!

I had a local shop that handles the Toyota dealers replacements, replace it and they put in a Pilkingtonon. Now, it is aLOT better than the last one, but this one is still distorted at the corners. Also, about 20% of the left side is distorted too and is doing the same thing, but not near as much as the last windshield. I must also note that 2 other people can see this besides me when they drive my truck.

My question is does the factory glass distort at all?

The owner of the windshield shop and I have spoken about this and he is going to replace with a Pittsburgh windshield tomorrow so I guess we'll see. I wasn't sure if I was super picky or just had bad glass but I don't remember my 99 4runner doing this at all.
Thanks for any input.

Just had my OE replaced with Pilkington. Looks very good in the useable areas but, yeah, a fair amount of distortion on some edges. Nothing like 20 percent, though. I don't think the original had any of that. If it did, I sure didn't notice anything in 6 years.

At the price, I'll live with it and next time I'll know to inspect the piece that's going in before it goes in.

THey're putting a PGW windshield on it now. The owner is actually doing this one instead of one of his guys. He saw the distortion in my current one and said its just strange to have 2 in a row with distortion right there. I knew I wasn't crazy! ;) Hopefully this one will get it fixed.

I just had my windshield replaced with PGW glass. No distortion whatsoever, very good quality glass. Hope yours turns out the same!

I'm on my 3rd PGW windshield for my T4R. I never got to experience how the PGWs compare with the OEM Toyota windshield as mine had a PGW one on it when I bought it, but it is good glass nonetheless. I don't get any distortion.

Since I am from Colorado, I go through more windshields than the average Joe.

Just had mine replaced a few weeks ago with PGW and no distortions here. Like you, that would drive me nuts if it was distorted like yours was.
