Windshield Wiper Wackiness

So I just joined, and this is my first post, but it's because I finally have a question to ask...

My '94 SR5 is running great...except for the driver's side windshield wiper. It doesn't work unless I physically help it. The motor sounds like it's running, and if I lift it clear of the windshield it will move back and forth.

This leads me to believe that there is a stripped joint somewhere in there. My question is...any idea where to start looking? Do I take off the wiper at the base to access the mechanism, or do I have to come up from the bottom somehow?

Thanks!

Try tightening up the bolt at the base of the wiper. My buddy had the same problem with the wiper on his subaru and it was just a matter of tightening up that bolt.

Um, thanks. Everytime I gather the courage to ask a question the answer, without fail, makes me feel moronic.

That said, I popped the cover off the base of the wiper, made three half-turns of the wrench, and now have world-class wiper action. Took less than 2 minutes.

Thanks again for the help!

Don't feel bad, often times the fixes are simple, but if you haven't encountered the issue before, you won't know the fix. That's why we're here. :thumb3:
