I bought my 05' 4x4 V8 used with a smal chip and lots of very small pits all over it. I would guess the majority of it's 108k miles (at the time) were mostly from the highway.
Anyway, I finally had a rock hit and sent the chip spreading over a foot.
I called "Fast Glass" in Russellville AR. They quoted me $204 OTD. They were nice enough to give me a ride to my office where my company vehicle was. I picked up my 4runner that afternoon with nice new glass! Then I read somewhere about distorted or wavy glass. I checked mine out and sure enough, LOTS of distortion and waves. I lived with it for a couple weeks, then went by Thursday to see what options I had. They were very polite and ordered a new winshield. None of the guy that did the work were there, and they never even asked to see my reciept. So Friday I had the new glass installed while I waited. Took just under an hour and I was ready to go...only problem was I could see the distortion before I even walked out the door! I took the boss lady outside, she agreed and appologized. They already upgraded me from a cheapo glass to PPG which is typically good quality. Now I have to let the glue dry for two weeks before getting yet another winshield put it!
The good news is when I offered to pay the difference for a better quality glass, she would not have it. She's ordered a new moulding and an "OEM" quality glass. I'm sure they are loosing several hundred dollars with the swap, but I can tell you I'll be sending all my friends/family there for any glass needs.
Great service that you don't find very often these days. Just thought I'd share.
