Winter Wiper Blades

Wow, I didn't realize they made winter specific wiper blades. I've just used the same ones year round.

Yeah.. they have rubber covers to keep snow out and freezing in the arm of the blade..

I didn't know if one brand was better than any other.

I installed a set a few years ago on one of my cars and had issues with it lifting off the windshield. Since it is wrapped in a rubber cover, air couldn't flow thru the blade and it lifted off the windshield at highway speeds. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this.

For normal blades the way they are shaped along with the grooves in them allow for the wiper to be held down on the windshield by the wind. This can also be seen on the newer wipers with the spoiler wing on them. When the winter blades are put on they won't have this so at high speeds they could lift off the window. You might have to get two sets, one for severe winter conditions and another for normal or mild conditions.

Not sure where you are but got these from Canadian Tire on-line. Teflon definitely helps.

I just installed a pair of ANCO winter blades last week. Note the Driver and Passenger blades are diff. sizes... Cost about 12 bucks for the pair...

Get the Teflon coated ones, they don't squeak and do a better job of wiping.
