Wiper issue

I have to first understand why one wiper isn't cleaning the window when there is nothing in its way. If its a case of a bent arm I would be surprised. If it isn't I honestly cannot say because there's no ice on the wipers anywhere.

This goes back to my other thread. When its very windy and I drive on the highway I hear rattling on the passenger side of my windshield which sounded like my wiper was making the sound , but I wasn't sure. Just a thought ....the dealer will confirm it though.

FYI this is definitely something well beyond taking ice off of wipers. (Shaking head)

I have considered pulling the arm off, and indexing it up slightly higher. so that when it parks, its on a flat section. i just need to get around to actually doing it.

It's a potential safety issue if you DO NOT take some friggin' personal responsibility and get out of the truck and FIX YOUR WIPERS. What do you want Toyota to do: Have a Tech ride around with you and jump out when you get cold, snow and ice? That's the only way to automate that task! I am with [MENTION=66300]Intruder[/MENTION] because living in the snow world I make it a point to bend the wiper arm and slap the wiper before leaving. If I am driving and I have one freeze up I take the INITIATIVE to be safe and pull over and fix it. Myself. Without going to a message board and whining my wiper freezes up. You are too much man.

Yes I have the wipers heaters and I had them on for 1/2. The wipers are just not making contact with the windshield period. Living in WI all my life I know what to look for. This is something entirely different that I can't figure out. But then again this is also my first 4Runner.

I would take your 4runner to the dealer to have them look at the arm, since the blade is not touching the windshield then it must be the arm or a bent drive post. If it a defect then the warrenty should take care of it.

It touched the windshield when it was warm. It just started snowing btw. What good is a wiper deicer that doesn't work.

The deicer is in the windshield not on the wiper and will not do anything if the blade is not touching the windshield. If it is not touching when cold then I still think that the arm is the problem.

Just go to the dealer and ask them. They'll be able to replicate the issue without problem, and you have a warranty that covers things like this...so I guess I'm not understanding the concern here.

It should take all of 10 mins in a drive-in, heated service bay...

Just picked up my 2014 4Runner SR5 Premium not long ago and I noticed that something is rattling at highway speeds. It is definitely coming from the direction of the windshield. It almost sounds like the wipers are making the sound, but that would be odd wouldn't it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

20 degrees. This morning as my vehicle was warming up I changed the air outlet from blowing heat to the main area to blowing down to the floor. When I did this I heard some buzzing which lasted 4-5 seconds and it was coming from behind the dash. So I tested it out. I kept switching it from one to another, back and forth...same noise was heard.

After 5-10 minutes of driving the noise finally went away. Is this normal?

3k miles

-Front right blown speaker- fixed by dealer
-Belt buckle rattle- fixed by dealer
-Windshield rattle (only when it's windy while driving on the highway.) still need to bring it to dealer.
-Air outlet buzz behind dashboard when changing air options. (Only happens when car sits overnight in the cold garage.) still need to bring it to dealer.
-When it shifts from first to second I sometimes get hesitation. This is sporadic.

It's almost as if I have a new issue every other week.

This just seems like way too much to go through on a brand new vehicle. Thoughts? I really hope I don't have a lemon. l love this thing.

Cold WI winter. Ah joy. The right wiper will not wipe anything. Left side is fine. Both worked perfectly when it was warmer and rain. I checked and there is nothing between the right wiper and the windshield. Help! I'm glad its not in the drivers side, but nonetheless I Ned to fund out if it's a bent wiper, etc. It operates, but doesn't clean the glass period.

On the issue of safety - Nobody takes safety as seriously as these guys here. Sure, we joke around but I have never read any advice offered that was not safe. So you have a wiper that gets stiff in cold weather. We all have (or had) wipers that do the same. If you would ever think to crack open the owner's manual you would see that the wipers are NOT heated. The windshield has heating elements that run through the windshield in the "wiper parked" position. This is there to thaw your wipers when frozen to the windshield. When driving, all bets are off and if it's cold, snowy or icy enough ANY wiper will turn into a plank.

Hey man I originally didn't even bring up the deicer .....someone else did. Fault them before telling me to look in the manual please.
