Wiper issue

UI don't really have anything productive to add but just to re-ignite the complaint. After 2 winters I still have no solution to the passenger wiper blade. The only fix is to leave the 4Runner parked in the garage. If you are going to use your windshield fluid in freezing temps have your wiper heater turned on well in advance because the passenger blade will freeze up. I have driven many years through Canadian winters so I am fairly competent when it comes to snapping blades, de-icing etc but this stupid wiper will not comply! Lol.

I washed the 4Runner last night when it was mild. Went below freezing overnight and I left the 4Runner outside. Had to get up early to pick up the fiancee and the passenger wiper would not wipe clean. I bent the blade concave, convex, wiggled it, bent half, twisted the other, massaged the rubber wiper blade strip all to no avail. I think Intruder posted earlier it's more to do with the arm than anything else. It does not have as much free play or range of motion as the driver side. Either way it must be poor design and/or materials. This is the only vehicle I have ever had this issue with. Seems so trivial but it is incredibly annoying driving down the road with a 6-12" blob of windshield washer fluid all over your windshield... especially if you are driving on th highway.

Anyone ever get the arm replaced, did that work, any other "fixes" etc?

Been playing around with my 14 T4R wipers as this just started with Right side wiper. Completed some minor adjustments to the arm, replaced with good wiper blades and still problem remained.

Just checked wiper arm spring and the passenger side has significantly less tension then the driver side.

As FYI, when driving at interstate speed, wiper works fine due to wind pushing blade into window. Note the arm is beveled to deflect air up and around it. At slow speed, the gap in swept area remained.

Will speak with Toyota and see if they will replace spring. If not, I will cut a loop off spring and see how this works.

Now, Engineers and Psychologists........please take it easy on me as this was just a gut check of the wiper blades/arms based on experience.:ak472::whipping2
