Wiring for Headrest Monitors...

Where are you all wiring for your headrest monitors. Just got a pair of Visualogics, but would like the correct wiring done. There are four wires: red for power, yellow for acc, black for ground, and green for parking brake.

I am pretty sure I don't the green hooked up, so where did you install the others.

I would like to have the monitors turn off with the key.

Your going to need to get to your ignition harness, and bring all the wires to the "under steering column" area.

You will see a large harness of wires coming from the key ignition switch.

Double check these wires like always:

12v - White / Blue (RED wire also works)
Acc - White / Green (will turn off with key)
Ground- best place is in the drivers kick panel...grind off the paint, and put a ring terminal on the end of the wire, and shoot a self-tapper and a lockwasher on the screw head.
 
So I tried multiple wiring scenerios hooking up the monitors but no go. My last resort was to hook directly to battery which I did but still no go.

Spoke to tech support at Vizualogic he stated the AV Module which routes the power could be malfunctioning. The b1tch of it is it will take about two weeks to get the new part.:mad:
 
you weren't kidding thats a very basic install manual.

Ok now when you say it isnt working..is there no video?

Is one screen not turning on?

Do the screens suck in the DVD's when you insert them in?

Or is it just, doing absolutely nothing?

Does the unit have ANY type of fuse (usually there is one in that "line conditioner" box) that you can check?
 
try bypassing it temporarily and see if the fuse / fuseholder is your problem, poorly made ones, or defective ones cause things like that to happen
 
Image that another Vizualogic problem. Over the last two years I (and the screens) have spend more time at their Corona, CA office getting something fixed compared to the time being able to use there product. :bash: :awais: :cannon: :FOS:

The heat just kills them, anytime the summer rolls around I know I'll have to make several more trips, one already starting this summer.

The biggest pain is I am not "their" customer. I purchased from autobarn.com and everything has to go through autobarn to get anything from Vizualogic.

Vizualogic doesn't sell directly to the public, but because I'm so close 45 miles from their shop and raised a big stink, they started working with me directly which they probably now regret.:)

By my own inspection the fuse/fusholder is a pretty basic setup. I did not see where this could be the problem. Two wires to the fuseholder, fuse plugs directly to each wire by wire tap.

I don't want to bypass the fuseholder b/c if I swap it out they may say something like I blew the AV Module by bypassing the fuse.

If you can tell how to bypass the fuse without damaging the wire, I will try that.
 
you could use a scotch lock to connect a wire in-line that supplys power (therefore bypassing the fuse) however this will still mark the wire.

I would even call their tech support and see if there is any common "simple" issues that could be fixed by you, saving time from shipping
 
When I spoke with tech support, I asked if there was any way to test the module, he said no.

I think I may have thought of a way to bypass the fuseholder. Need wire with a male end to insert into female fuseholder inline directly with the module. There is always a chance the problem is with the female attachment of the fuseholder. Will try tomorrow.
 
First off... Yellow is your constant power wire. Red is your accessory wire...

Basically, Yellow holds memory, Red tells the unit to turn on.

Tie the black and green wires together and ground them.

Reversing yellow and red should still allow the unit to come on, it just won't retain memory.

I would check your ground and make sure all cables are correctly plugged into the module.
 
I sent the AV module back to autobarn in NY (delivered on 7/17), they should have sent it back to vizualogic in CA. So hopefully I will hear back from someone or get a replacement module.
