Wiring gremlins, do I have an alarm problem?

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I picked up a 96 4runner, V6 5speed, limited. It has minor body damage and 215k, as well as some wiring-related issues.I think I got a good score at $3k. Factory locker, 4wd, and almost all of the systems work perfectly.....except for a few small issues.

My chief complaints are that the power locks dont work, and the blinkers dont work.

Here's the quick and dirty:
*checked all fuses and relays, they're good to go.
*turn signal switch appears to be fine, checked continuity based on FSM.
*Replaced relay w/ brand new unit.
*Power locks, when pressing the button, do NOTHING, same as the blinker. *No clicking, popping, noises of any kind, its like youre not hitting the button.
*Constant 12v to car stereo doesn't work (not sure if its related)
*Dome light fuse pops instantly as soon as its replaced (again, maybe related).
*Car appears to have an aftermarket alarm. Not sure what make, model, brand or otherwise. Looks professionally installed but the dealership didn't give me a keyfob or remote of any kind. I'm wondering if they gutted the alarm to get the truck to work and then sold it to me?

I'd take it back

they cant sell a vehicle without the blinkers working. Another thing, If the harness connected to hazard switch, on the radio bezel, isnt plugged in the blinkers wont work.

Well.....the blinkers work, now. You're a genius. The switch was plugged in but the button was depressed, which of course cuts off the blinkers. Now I have to figure out why my hazard lights dont work, which kind of circles all the way back to the original suspicion since the hazard lights might be tied into an aftermarket alarm.

Thanks for the followup, at least I have blinkers now!
