Wiring Harness/Electrical Issue? 1999 Limited 4wd

Hey everybody I am currently in the market for a 3rd Gen 4runner. I have currently found one but the owner states there is an electrical issue with the wiring harness. The radio, door locks and interior overhead lights aren't working. I am interested in the vehicle to restore and make a build with it. Just wondering if this would be an easy fix or should I just completely avoid this one and keep looking? Any input or advice would be appreciated!

Well could be as simple as fuses. But it sounds like the owner knows something specific. I'd ask more questions why he thinks the problem is in the wiring harness. Did he mess with the harness or did a mouse chew it up or what? Harness' on 3rd gens are not usually a problem, rare actually as best i can tell on here.

Thanks for the info!! The owner is a lady in her 20's so she said she had a shop look at it and they diagnosed it being the wiring harness. I may get info from the shop on it to get more info. It is a 99 with 221k miles. Other than the electrical issue it is great shape. No rust, no accidents, 4wd hardly used. I just don't want to get way over my head in a project dealing with an electrical issue. I have read some of the buyers guide info and haven't had a chance to finish it. I will be doing that ASAP.

Were they able to rule out the Body ECU? That's an expensive part to buy new, and they fail more frequently than the harness, unless the latter is abused. Harness issues can either be repaired or new wires routed, unless an army of rodents has been at work. Swapping the whole thing is very expensive but the kind of thing a dealer would do for a thousand bucks.

If you can't troubleshoot it yourself, it is a craphoot as to how much you would have to pay to get it fixed, ranging from very little to more than one appendage. I'm thinking Body ECU from a junkyard, but it's only a guess. Detailed troubleshooting needed. We can help you with that if it comes to it.
