Wiring harness for aftermarket head unit

Does anyone else have a problem connecting the stock wiring harness to the aftermarket ones?? neither one of the ones ive gotten work! :wtf: i bought the ones for an '88 and up import and it is supposed to fit, but it doesnt! help is greatly appreciated. im trying to get this thing in tonight

you need to buy the toyota specific one. Got mine from best buy had no problems installing it.

ok... gotcha. thanks man. i have been wonderin why that stupid thing hasnt worked all night. well the guy at best buy failed to tell me that alpines are really wide and wont fit the cheap scosche dash kits.... well i guess its back to best buy after school for another overpriced part...

i noticed last week that my rear door speakers arent working, so i took my dash apart tonight and noticed that the wiring harness adapter didnt have wires that said rear speakers or anything of the sort. WTF??? any help? it blows only having 2 speakers...

What harness did you use? A Metra 70 1761? It has two plugs. The second one does the rear speakers.

So the adapter that plugs into the factory head unit is NOT the one that I plug the wiring adapter into? I had my HU out last night and thought Crutchfield sent me the wrong harness. I was pissed because I soldered, shrunk wrapped and taped the harnesses together before I pulled the HU out and then thought I had the wrong piece. I'll look again.

That's correct. You should have called Crutchfield before putting in all that work but oh well. Follow the harness down to a silver rectangle (your amp). Pull out the two gold? screws and then unhook your amp. The harness that you disconnected from your amp is the one you use. Next time I recommend calling Crutchfield as their customer service seems pretty good. Good luck.

Removed the amp, plugged in the harness, and it looks good and sounds better than before with my new head unit in there....thanks for the help!
