wiring question and aux problem

hello all,

i'm new to the forum but i searched around and couldn't find anything on these two topics:

1: when the car is off, the AC outlets lose power. any way to change this? maybe change some wiring around so that my phone charger stays on?

2: when i have my ipod plugged into the AUX jack it works really well. UNLESS i have it plugged into the ac outlet. If it's in the AC outlet i get horrible noise and crackles bleeding into my speakers. Is something not grounded properly?

The 115V inverter is turned on with a relay so the key has to be on for it to run. While it is possible to defeat this relay, for safety's sake I can't recommend it. As for the other problem, when the IPOD is attached only to the radio it is running on its own battery. If you attach the charge cord to the 115VAC the wall wart adapter only has two pins( no third pin ground) so you pick up the switching frequency of the inverter and other "hash" riding on the 115V. It probably makes an awful racket. I would only use it to charge with and run the IPOD on its own battery.

To get rid of the noise go to Best Buy and pick up a ground loop isolator. Look for one that comes with the RCA to 1/8" jack, then you will need to pick up another RCA to 1/8" jack. I can't remember if which one you will need if it is male or female end. You will have to look in the package to see which one you will need. It worked great for me and my Sirius radio. Had a terrible alternator whine and it got rid of it. I took my center console apart and put it under the console because it is fairly large inside of the console box and I didn't want to see it every time I opened it. I would also recommend a 90 degree 1/8" adapter. I have broken many of cables with things being pushed on the cable protruding straight out of the input.
