Wiring- where can I tap in for dash illumination?

Hello everyone,

I am going to be installing 3 switches to power a few LED lights on the outside of my 4R. I would like the light switches to be illuminated when the other interior dash lights are on at night.

Any idea which wire I could tap into for this?

You can tap into any switch that also gets illuminated, I believe green wire for power and green/white wire is ground. You wouldn't need to use both, just one will suffice if youre tapping power somewhere else. I tapped into the VSC switch when I did my panel. Hope this helps

Yup, Lordabdullah is right. It's the green wire. I personally used the DAC button's power and tapped into it with a connector, then cleaned it up with some electrical tape. I think I may have some pictures on my build thread. If not feel free to pm me and I can open up my center console and take pics of the exact wire I tapped and show you how my switches work.

Just note that doing it this way, your switches won't dim with the other interior panel lights. It'll just be a constant on, when the other lights are on, and off when they're off. Depending on the brand switch you buy, they'll match pretty close. I have an AOB and a CH4x4 switch for my lights, the CH4x4 is a bit brighter than my other swtiches but the AOB is pretty close.

I chose amber swtiches so they'd match, because I thought it would look silly having blue switches for lights when everything else is amber and I wanted them to blend nicely.
