Great work on the racks. If I missed this, just say so - How does this rack mount to the roof rails? Any pics of the mounts? Also can you provide some height measurements with the rack mounted? For example, at the front of the rack, how tall is it from the top, to the vehicle roof? Same for the rear of the rack - top of the rack to roof?

I realize another member mentioned he could get into parking decks ok, but I'm curious for my situation too...at work, I'm required to park in a deck and the deck is very low in spots. Thanks.
 
That's all very dependant on your tire/suspension combo. Rickashay posted some great pictures in his build thread that really show how it fits. It mounts on some sliding inserts I provide (they slide into your stock rails) and the rack is simply bolted to it. Its a very simple system, I can unbolt and have mine off in 5 minutes.
 
Ok great, I'll check his build thread for mounting.

I realize that overall vehicle heights with different lifts/tire sizes will cause the overall vehicle height to differ from truck to truck, that's why I'm curious how tall the rack itself is. As in from the top of the vehicle to the top of the rack in the front and back? I mean are we talking 7-8" in the front and 4" in the back? Just wasn't sure how tall the rack itself is. Thanks again.
 
I gotcha, i just checked and from the middle of the front edge of the sunroof to the top of the front tube is 6", and from just ahead of the third brake light on the rear roof the top tube is 4" high. hope that makes sense, thanks!
 
Oh and I know your site says you will ship the rack in bare steel form or you'll spray it in bedliner. The racks that are pictured on your site, what type of finish are they done in? They look like either a satin/semi-gloss paint or a powdercoat.
 
the racks on the site are customer photos from full_throttle, theizzardking, and 98'4runnerSR5. i think they all went different routes, full_throttle did full on basecoat/clearcoat, theizzardking king did powder and i'm not sure what 98'4runnerSR5 did. the bedliner is my only choice since the powder shop in my area has priced himself out of my business (theres no way i could pass that cost to the customer). that being said, i'm leery of shipping anything coated as some shippers dont care and bare steel is just the safest bet.
 
wish I could get this, maybe for tax-return/bday/taxday gift. . plus shiping would only be to Atlanta, GA or I could come down to FL for it since I have family in FL

Ok thanks. My sliders were powdercoated a high gloss black, but turned to a flat black shortly there after. :( I like the idea of getting it painted, then clearing it. Definitely would hold it's "color" better. Thanks again.

Having had large painted steel items delivered in the past, I totally agree shipping the rack bare steel. I have not found a shipping company yet that does not somehow manage to scratch or nick an item during transit. And like you said, it save on costs too.
