Wolfs 99 build thread

Picked up my first 3rd gen a few months ago :clap2: Clean 99 SR5 auto 3.4L 238k all maintenance up to date. I've been a mechanic for 25+ years and its nice to bring something home that didn't need much. She used it as a commuter car so the skid plates aren't even scratched :) I have no build plan I'm just going to do whatever I feel like.

Didn't sit or drive right so I replaced the front struts only to find out the ones on it were for a 2012 chevy Colorado and all the valves inside were destroyed.

Installed used factory fog lights and switch. Found a great deal on an elocker which included the housing, switch and locker ecu. 4.30 gears so I bought the front diff since it has 4.10 in it now. It was pretty rusty. Cleaned and painted it, made my own wiring harness using the factory ecu, and switch so it would work how I wanted it to. light even comes on :)

While I had the diffs out I installed a 1.5" spacer lift. Good enough for now. and upgraded the fender flairs for the FN wheels and 265/75R16 duratracks on the way. I don't feel like messing with 285's at this time. Still need to wire an ABS off switch and looking into a fabricating a front diff mount that will lower the whole diff not just the front half of it for a bigger lift.
I searched for the discontinued mud guard with no results like everyone else. Contacted a friend and we are looking into molding our own since no one else has. If there is enough interest we will move foreword with a prototype and making about 250 of them with pre orders. IMG_7616.jpg

Nice truck. How difficult was the locker upgrade?

I'm in the Boulder area and new to the forum. How often do area members meet up? Wanna help me install a locker when I purchase one? :biggrin2:

Thanks! The locker was time consuming the way I did it but it worked first try and looks good. I'm not sure if anyone meets up? I'll help if I can but my time is limited since I have a 1 year old lol

I looked at a bunch of wheels and decided on FN 5 stars in Anthracite Light Gunmetal and 265/75R16 duratracks. Dustin at FN is awesome to deal with. Fast shipping and they look sweet! Cant wait to hit the hills and try everything out.
