Wonder why no HID's..on LMTD

I wonder why a 40k LMTD wouldnt be made with very standard HID's or even projector bulbs....any thoughts on that?

I agree. My Mom has a 2011 Avalon Limited that came with HIDs and was around the same price as what my SR5 costs. I do have to say that the lights on the Toyota's are much much better than other vehicles. I came from a 2009 Ford F-250 and the headlights on my 4R are 10x better than the Ford.
 
No 4Runner has ever come with HIDs from the factory. The '06-'09 4Runner did have projector lenses though.

Still though, Toyota cut costs on the 5th gen 4Runner, so I wasn't at all surprised they they reverted back to reflector headlight lenses.
 
Im assuming the HID will be added on the 2012. Usually they start adding on the "nicer" stuff later down the road.
 
I doubt it. Traditionally, Toyota/Lexus has been "terrified" of adding HIDs on any of their truck-based SUVs...claiming that their truck-based SUVs are too high. (Of course, this claim is bogus since so many other manufacturers are doing it, esp. Caddys. In addition, Lexus gave in and has HIDs as option on 2010 GX460, thus blowing up their previous claim.) Still, i doubt that you will ever see HIDs on 4runners. You guys want to feel bad? Ask the Lexus LX570 owners...the top-dog in Toyota land does not have HIDs, while their cheaper little brother has it (GX460). Now, THAT is dumb. Mercedes managed to have bi-Xenons on the G-wagen...there is no reason why the LX cannot have it.
 
^^^ what he said - the paranoia extends to the "you can't have your fogs and main beams on at the same time" feature we all know and love/mod.

That specifically is less paranoia and more law. Most states have a limit on the number of headlamps you can have on at the same time. I believe for most the number is 2 (pairs count as one).

So that is high+low or low+fog.
But not high+low+fog.
 
Want 4-Runner Owner to Move Up To Lexus

Almost all of the standard features in the 2009 4 Runner deleted in the 2010 are available on the Lexus 460 including v8, HID headlight option, projector head lights, electronic seat settings, gas cap lock, mud flap, and hidden antenna. Bottom line Toyota wants their dedicated 4-Runner base to move up to the Lexus 460 which has a substantially greater profit margin and costs the buyer $20K more. More amazing is that the gas milage on the 460 V8 is about the same as the 4-Runner V6 based information that I am hearing.

my thanks to lexus people that the gx does come with the HIDS!

another stupid issue for another forum, why does the LX/LC have 5 lug nuts vs the 6 lugs for most other toyota suvs. just doesnt make sense.
