Wondering about wheels and brakes

Ok before someone says it yes i have searched. I cant seem to find the answer i am looking for. My 2000 SR5 currently has the OEM 16" wheels on it with 265/75/16 tires, but the door sticker has 235/75/15 listed as the OEM size. Thus me thinking my 4runner has the smaller diameter factory brakes(297mm) compared to the bigger 319mm that the T4R's with factory 16's had. But i can not find a definitive answer to that. I bought new brake rotors and pads for the smaller brakes but haven't had the time to install them, to clarify my suspicions. This also kinda leads to my second question. since my SR5 had 15's from the factory does this mean i can actually go with aftermarket 15" wheels? or am i stuck with the 16's?

Assuming a previous owner has not upgraded the brakes then you are correct in assuming the smaller brakes will work. That being the case, you should have no problem running a 15 inch wheel, providing the offset and such are a good fit as well.

I doubt she did. she got it as it sits minus the 265/75/16's. she owned it for 16yrs bought it with 11k on it, it was her commuter.


Cool thank you for the answer. i have been holding off on ordering wheels/tires as well as my body lift because i was trying to find an answer.
