wonky idle

hi guys! so I noticed today that the idle on my 88 runner is eradic when I start it everything is fine starts at about 1500 and works its way down to 1k but when i was sitting at the drive thru I noticed it was sitting around 800 slowly dropped to 500 back to 800 back to 500 and so on...somwhere i read if air gets in the cooling system it can cause this and i recently flushed the system not sure why that would affect idle but anyways how do i tell if there is air in there? how do i get the air out? Im not sure if it was like this before i flushed it as ive only driven it 300kms or so. ive also read it could be the tps? or throttle body being dirty? its a 3vze w/ 401,xxxkms any ideas would be appreciated other than that all is well. I honestly dont know how i lived without a yota 4x till now I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING THIS THING! glad i added it to my toyota family,
401k and still drives and wheels fabulous the only suv ive driven that feels like an actual truck and not some kinda soccer mom van like new trucks its a little gas hungry but other than that no complaints

Cheers! :girl::girl::girl::girl::girl::girl::girl:just thought id add that cuz i liked it LOL

I don't really know **** about the v6, but that sounds like a fairly high idle at 1k... More cylinders should give a low idle and the proper idle for the 22RE is around 600 if I remember correctly.

There's a method in the repair manuals to set the idle speed, you may want to start there. If it's jumping around, it may be a sensor issue.

o really maybe it is fine then...lol sorry Im total truck newb my toyota mr2 idles around 1000 but i guess thats because its rev hungry the truck idles around 1500 at first start once warmed up usually around 600-800 excellent well if this is normal then all ive got to do is change the clutch master cyl. and replace the ebrake cable and my work is done! well other than the big rust hole on the passenger side
thanx for the input any1 else can chime in if this isnt correct cheers!

...

Iv got a 93 SR5 T4R - V6 EFI, and had the same issue. Sounds exactly the same as what ur gettin - turns out it was a split in the snorkel. therefore ****in with the fuel injection. dunno if this helps, but yeh :P

thanks but what is the snorkel? I always thought that was an aftermarket air intake that runs along the windshield pillar?
