Won't go when cold!

I have a 99 4Runner that has suddenly decided it does not want to go until it has warmed up for at least five minutes. It reverses okay, but then I put it in drive and it barely creeps forward - though I hear the engine working hard. I let it warm-up and it runs fine. Runs fine the rest of the day too, so this doesn't appear to be transmission related. I'm stumped and would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

BTW - Don't use the emergency/parking brake on a regular basis, so don't think it is related to that either.

Sounds like your tranny fluid is too cold. Just let it warm uplike your supposed to. This is the clutch material worn out from driving it cold.

Our old Ford C6 trannys and A4OD's did something like this, it was an internal pump seal that leaked off overnight. A bottle of Lucas oil made a big difference until we were able to justify a rebuild.
