Won't move forward without throttle!

pull the dipstick, wipe it clean with some shop towel or a rag, and then put it back in the tube

I always wanted to ask others something about the trasmission dipstick... Is it just in my 4R that it is a total PITA to put back in? It bends and twists all the way...

Regards,
Gustavo.

Trany fluid looks great IMO. I run my level around the same. My next best guess would be wheel bearing/s or like others have mentioned the rear axle seals.

It sounds like you are having to overcome a rolling type force that goes away once it warms up. Try (while it is still cold in the morning) jacking up each wheel one at a time and turning it by hand. That will narrow down front/back, left/right where the problem/s are. I don't think it will be from any of the breaks seizing up because you would probably feel that while breaking (shuttering, pulsing, grinding) and it usually doesn't happen unless the truck has sat for a long period of time. You should be able to turn each wheel by hand once it is off the ground.

Also, is there any sound coming from the wheels while you are having the problem?

I'm having same problem with my runner. The axle seals and bearings were just replaced along with new rear brake shoes. And after reading this thread I checked my trans fluid and it seems to be ok. Not really sure what else it could be. Just like op it doesn't happen all the time and I always wait for my runner to heat up before I drive it so mine does it even when its warm.

Cool glad to hear someone else is running their tranny level the same as mine!

I took it to work today (I usually drive my truck to work all the time but today i figured i would take the runner just to see how it was) and as im driving through the mill every time I stop at a stop sign in the mill going slow 5-10Mph. The brakes feel real touchy and have a slight squeal not sure which ones are making the noise. The brakes are like brand new in the back. But when i got to work i left it sit for about an hr. And before i did that they were ok as i was comming to work. Then after an hr. I had to go to a class up at the other end of the mill which requires me to drive vehicle there and thats when i noticed it doing that slight grabbing and squealing at the stop signs while going to that class. It doesnt seem to be a big deal but if i dont watch how hard i hit the brakes it really grabs harder than usual since the truck is kinda cold.

As far as it holding back when i first started out today it wasnt that bad.

But thats really the only noises i heard today..

When i get some time im gonna take the drums off hopefully their easy to get off. My truck is a tacoma and they are a ***** to get off ugh! Ive never had these drums off before on this vehicle. Well when I had it recently inspected i think they took the passenger drum off cause they said they checked the rear brakes and said they were like brand new and i dont think they had any problems getting it off atleast they didnt say anyway..

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys!
