hey all!,
i finally got myself a 4runner!.. so happy. the blizzard pearl is an awesome color.

the car is at the dealership getting some options and addons installed.. i'll send some more pix after i get the front skid plate and what not.

blah.. hate the tomtom gps. i opted to get the pioneer avic z3 w/ backup camera, hopefully they will be able to install the unit. the electronics installer is going to be looking at it today so see if its do-able.

Very nice looking truck you got there. White does look nice. My 07 SR5 is Shadow Mica. I have to put some pics on this site..one of these days I'll get a chance and do it.
 
I love my Tom Tom Unit. If you go outdoors often like I do, You appreciate it more.

The backup camera will be expensive. I just use the two roof mirrors right by the trunk door. It took me about 2 weeks to get used to, but they are great...

I also got the front skid plate, Door sills, Ceramic tinted (expensive, but well worth the money, since my UR is black and I am in California. I also got 3M clear bra on the hood, grill, bumpers, rear view mirrors, door handles, and lower part of the doors by the running boards. 7 year warranty of the 3M, so peace of mind... I also put 2 coats of Klasse SG as well...

Congrats on the purchase.....

how much did the clear bra set you back on those extra areas? i want to get the grill and bumper done since the harsh colorado roads tear that up. i did the hood headlights mirrors door handles and fenders but i want to add grill and bumper. the lady suggested i dont do it but is she on crack?

I don't know why she wouldn't recommend the grill and bumper. Those two pieces see more road damage than the hood itself on an SUV. I did the Grill, because our URunners have the color key grills. I also got the extended hood bra that lines up with the Air dam perfectly. I also got the door handles done becasue it is my wifes DD, and she and all her friends have long nails (and I detail cars, and know how PITA those areas are to polish. Only a Dremel works in those areas which I don't have time for :)Anyways, I paid $1095 out the door for all the Ceramic tint and all the 3M pieces. I believe the 3M portion was $550 or $595 IIRC with installation. If you really want, I can walk over there and ask them for individual bumper and grill for you. (they are right next door to my office).

yeah my last runners bumper was tore up. grill was ok and hood wasnt bad just the front bumper was so peppered. i paid $425 for what i had done. she told me would be another 700 to get the bumper and grill done but doesnt suggest it cause the 3M doesnt still well to it? you got hooked up thats a screaming deal to get all of that done. wish i was in cali i would get it done there. i may call around then.

i too detailed cars for many years and know the pain it is to get under the door handle, i stopped using a buffer though awhile back do it all by hand now.
 
Nice looking Urban Runner, yeah I'm not a big fan of the TomTom either, mine actually screwed up a few days ago and it's not even working...
 
I take all my cars and recommend all friends' cars to this place next door. So they give me good deal, 10%-20% off plus, no tax, which is nice, what goes around comes around.

Let me call them when I have a second and ask them how much they would charge regularly? I honestly think $700 is outrageous for just the Grill and the Bumper. I added the grill last minute and it is a 3 part piece, and I am pretty sure it was no more than $100.

I went next door and talked to them. Here you go:

there are 2 options for the bumper:
Regular (strips, don't cover sides)
Extended (wraps all around)

Regular $250
Extended $350 (one I got)
Grill $99

These are all installed prices....

You should find out how much you can get it installed for? You can also call that lady back and tell her these prices, above prices are his Regular prices.

they is an Authorized 3M shop here in NorCal www.366tint.com

so that place was trying to rip me off. i knew it sounded expensive. thanks im going to call around later this week and see what other places are charging. im taking a 4-5 day road trip in a couple months and would like to not worry about chips.

clear bra for the front

the dealership offered the clear bra when i bought the 4runner, but i declined. after talking to my wife, she wants it done.

i would want the anything facing the front to get a clear bra.

should i look for a 3rd party vendor to do this? or should i stick with the dealership?

3rd party all the way. the stealers will rip you off. i found out the hard way. after i got mine done they only did the hood and fenders and few other areas but i want the bumper and grill done so ive been calling around and its seriously half the price of the dealer...<b>audiqtr</b> is right thanks so much for making me look around. i just got off the phone with a company and they will be doing mine next week. and tint the following week.
 
i just did "3m clear bra denver, co" for my search. i just stayed away from shady looking sites, and tailored towards ones that had pictures of cars they had done...and luckily the shop im going to had a few audi's bmw's and lambo's on it so they must be good right

What tint did you use and how much did it set you back? I am looking to tint my Runner and want to use some high quality stuff.

You're very welcome. I just want to emphasize that 3rd party is the way to go as long as they are authorized dealers of the products that they use. That's all they do. In this case, these 3rd party people only do tint and clear bra.
