True, I guess I'm just wondering what to paint with. Also whether you have to paint all of the side cladding at the same time since they are connected or hist tape of the fender flares.

Yup, my '05 Galactic Gray fender flares are also fading right at the top lip, where the flare meets the sheet metal fender. I am the original owner and have PATHOLOGICALLY waxed every two to three weeks since the day I bought it in February 2005. Not a complaint, per say (accept maybe about the Texas sun), but I too am not sure what I am going to do about this..... maybe nothing. Not sure.

We bought our 4Runners the same month/year. My 4runner came from a Houston dealership. I'm having the same issue. Door dings on passenger side, chips on the front bumper, fender flares fading,side mirrors chipped,paint falling off. I've already put in about $2800 this year on new backup camera/front camera/Kenwood unit/2 front hub/wheel bearings/2 front rotors/pads. I'm thinking of a new paint job within the next couple years. I'm planning to keep my 4runner at least 5-7 more years. And when I'm ready for a new one, I'd like to keep this 4runner in the family.

Man your fenders look like crap!!! Mined too.. I kinda gave up.. I went in for a repair and the numbnuts chipped my fender flare from repairing my fender.. They also scratched my newly installed touch screen.. But that is a different story.

So I had them repair and the chip on the flare. They repainted.. Now it looks new, and the 3 other flares are faded..lol

I use my truck for family camping and roadtrips. hauling my kayak and other stuff.. A little scratch here.. a little ding here.. Now it all ads up.. The truck is starting to so its age.. Im more concerned of the interior being worn than the reliability of the truck..

I still plan on keeping it for a while.. Its paid off and I cant afford another vehicle.. I will likely never finance a vehicle again.. I feel everyone should do at least 1 finance in their lifetime.. My acura TL is also paid off.. So I will not live through it again.. Love the 4runner for its utility and reliability.. I do think parts on exterior is cheaply made compared to older 4runners, and older US vehicles.. I use to climb on my dads cars and it would not dent.. Now I put a beer on the hood and risk denting..lol..
