Worst thing on paint.

Last night I was driving home late from a friends house. I was on the highway and there was construction ahead. There was a state trooper and cones to narrow the lanes down to one lane. Appararently they were working on a bridge over the highway I was on and there was water streaming down from the bridge right over the only travel lane. I didn't think anything of it until I passed underneath and was coated with white stuff. I'm in construction and I knew immediatly what it was. They were cutting concrete on the bridge above and you have to use alot of water for the process. So now my truck is completely covered with wet concrete slurry! I am so pissed!

Luckily just last week I gave it a complete detail that ended with two coats of Zaino's to the point where the truck felt smoother than a babies ass. Hopefully that left me protected but I am still pissed that they would let something like that happen.

I called PADOT and they are trying to figure out who is responsible. In the mean time I just want my truck cleaned. I am going to take pics (of what is left since I hosed about 1/4 of it off in my driveway at midnight last night) and then wash it very gently with a lot of water and then give them a bill for a typical hand wash or detail.

What do you guys think that is worth? $25, $50, $100?

Did you wash under the carriage to remove all the wet concrete slurry?...if so, add $50 more to the bill.

$150. $75 an hour, typical city rates.

Well I'm going to charge them $150.

You wouldn't believe everywhere this stuff got. The wheel wells, between the doors on the pillar, all in around the headlights, every nook and cranny it found itself into. Oh, and did I tell you I had the rear passanger window open? Yeah it is on that door and seat on the inside.

Good thing is that after 2 hours I got it all off except for the undercarriage and the engine compartment.

Another hour for that. Make it $225, no $250 for additional cleaning products.

Do you really expect that the company will pay you? Just don't want you getting even more frustrated over the company not paying your bill.

This isn't a little construction job. This is part of a huge project to improve and link a major highway to the PA Turnpike. Basically the PA Dept. of Transportation is the General Contractor on this job. They directed me to the contractor first and said if I did not get any satisfaction that they are ultimately responsible, so I absolutely expect to get paid without much hassle.

Pa DOT was very concerned as this is a safety issue and they have to take it seriously. The person I talked to at the contractor they directed me to was their Safety Officer and he was very professional about it.

And if they didn't take care of it,........well....believe me, I'd make them pay for it.:angel:

Actually, it's refreshing to hear that they are being so professional about it. I was expecting a don't-give-a-crap attitude.

Route 309 north, just before the Turnpike entrance where Valley Green Road passes over 309.

I don't think it will happen again though as they were very responsive and said it had been discussed already and changes were made in procedure to make sure it won't happen again. It may be B.S. but I think they were sincere since this is a state agency and this is considered a safety issue.

P.S. There seems to be quite a few people from the Philly/SE PA on the board now. Maybe someday we could get together and go to Paragon to get the trucks a little dirty.
