Worth doing an engine swap?

I need some advice. My 1999 Limited 4WD with 265k blew a head gasket. I've only owned it for a few months, so I don't know how well the engine has been taken care of, but the body is in excellent condition. I found a used engine with 95k on it for $1000. Worth the swap?

I have the same vehicle and blew a head gasket at 315k. My mechanic took it apart, said it still looked brand new on the inside and that he was going to fix it. I've put 40k on it since then and it's running like a champ. Guess it depends on how much you have in it, and what it would cost to repair it compared to how much it would cost to do the swap. If the used one has been taken care of, might not be a bad way to go.

Is just a head job, nothing major. If you take it apart your self and take the head to the machine shop, should not cost you more then $300 including new parts and some elbow grease.
Buying a used engine is not a bad idea, but you dont know if that used engine have been taken care of

Fix it. Not a terrible job. But if that other engine is a documented 95K miles, it's a good deal at $1,000. Engine swap isn't too bad in these.
