Worth it for $1200?

Hi all, I'm new to the forum, and have my eyes on a "wrecked" 2000 T4R. Owner says it was in a fender bender, and she got side swiped. She's asking $2000, but already has a new vehicle and wants it gone, and will take $1200.

The Runner has 230k miles, and also needs a fuel pump. So, with the damage you see, and the higher miles, do you think this one is worth picking up or should I keep searching? With a new fuel pump and some cosmetic work, should clean up nicely. Haven't actually seen it in person though.

Thanks!

It definitely looks like the headlight is pushed up and in, which either means that section of the core support is bent or the plastic headlight mounts are broke . Is it fixable yeah but more pics and an actual in person inspection with it torn down more would be required. Unless of course you got even cheaper than $1200

Under $1000. Once you get into the repairs, you get close to breaking even with buying a truck of similar mileage that never got hit.

Good catch, hadn't noticed that. I think I'll keep looking, there are plenty to choose from around here. Thanks for your input!

The vacuum reservoir for the front ADD unit is behind that spot where the bumper is crumpled. I would check for damage in that area as well if you do get it.
$500 max or walk away... not worth the headache.

If the engine and transmission are in good working order, and you can get the whole car for $1200, it will be worth it. Besides the front end, there's plenty of good parts, especially the interior. You might even be able to make some money off of it by selling off a lot of those parts, if you have the time and are willing to put in the effort to do so.

It's a weird-ass truck. The ad says "Limited", but it has cloth seats and doesn't have the wood bezels, so I don't think it's Limited. The Sport Hood is also not original to the truck (not that I should talk, I swapped a Sport Hood onto mine). So just be wary that the truck has been modded - maybe well, maybe not.

You can buy it for $1000 and part it out, the hood alone (if undamaged) is worth $300-500.

It would be worth it to me depending on the rust. But I'm a mechanic and have the room and a shop to store it.I would make money off the parts.I bet she would take $1000 cash.
Too far away or else I would be all over it.Definitely not a Limited, looks more like a Highlander edition.

Curious as to why you say the hood is not original to the truck? Could be a Highlander edition.

Definitely not a Limited. I would be all over this if I lived closer and could take a look at it. Looking at the driver fender it looks like the extent of the impact was largely contained by the bumper. The headlight is most likely a broken lens bucket. Would be nice if they have any maintenance history.

So does it really not run at all? They should get dinged hard for that. I would want to hear it run for anything over $1000. And CarFax it - branded title knocks it down even farther. And check the frame for rust.

Repairs - Hood looks like it survived so I would swap out the headlight assembly, try to find a cheap fatlip bumper, then a driver front fender/flare, driver rear flare, yank those running boards off, fix the fuel delivery issue. Do that and I could sell it up here for $5-6k assuming a clean title.

Hmm, seems to be some mixed thoughts here. I think I'm going to go take a look at it, and assess the damage myself. If the bumper did indeed take a majority of the damage, and the frame isn't bent, I think I'm going to try and grab it for $1000. I do have a quote from the seller from a local shop saying it just needs a fuel pump. Although it is concerning buying a vehicle that doesn't run...

For $1000 I could easily part it out though if the motor is bad.
