Worth upgrading to 2008 Sport V8 from 2006 Limited V6?

Good morning everyone,

OP here. So I went to test drive that 2007 v8 sport 4runner this morning because I was curious.

Drove great, has xreas on it, timing belt was changed already, etc. The V8 is FAST! Slight rumble on startup but quiet after that.

There was a big tear in the front seat, and it had the 5th gen "limited" badges on it. Almost like the previous owner wanted people to think he had a limited instead of a sport. Super tacky and looked terrible.

Salesman (Mcgrath Acura in Westmont) was a real *******. Super pushy for my phone number and details. Knew absolutely nothing about the 4runner and I had to educate him on the truck during the test drive.

Has the balls to ask if I was going to trade in my 4runner for this one. Ha, yea right.

Long story short, dopey salesman that is just there to collect a paycheck. Should educate himself on what he is selling.

Staying with my 4runner and driving it till it dies!!

Excellent advise on here. I do tow our family speedboat around (16.5 ft Baja sunsport 1984 with a Yamaha 115 on it) but that only weights I'd guess 1500lbs.

No issues at all towing. If fact, I'll be towing it 70 miles tomorrow to storage for the winter.

We might get a larger speed boat in the future, but from what I've read on here, it sounds like the towing capacity of the v6 should be fine. I looked into this before my purchase and figured that a 5k towing capacity should be plenty.

If I need more, my dad can buy a bigger truck lol

Again, thank you for all the advise on this. I haven't regretted my 4Runner purchase for a second and plan on keeping it till at least 250k.

I had an 04 v6 and used it to tow my 19footer that weighed in about 3500 and it towed fine after upgrading the brakes. Now i have a 25 foot cruiser and an 07 V8 4runner and tows it just fine

JK I have a Ram to tow that boat [emoji1] but did use the the 4runner to move it around the driveway

Glad to hear you saved some cash!

Also, my extra 2cents would've been that you're paying money to lose fuel range, and for $4k you can add in the URD equl length headers, Y-pipe, air filter to enhance power and fuel ecomonmy already there, and add small lift (assuming you DIY). There are lots of capable looking rigs on this forum with only a V6.
