Worth Waiting? Boss or Ultimate Lift

was contemplating the same thing before i ordered my lift. i wanted the boss but didnt want to wait. so i settled for the ultamate... then i got to thinking might just piece together my own. for the front i did the eibach and billy 5100s, the exact same thing as the ultimate set up but you cant adjust unless you take it apart. my setup gives me 3" in the front so why bother adjusting the slightest amount. for the rear i did toytec superflex and billy 5125s and they flex great. my setup only costed 750 from toytec the price of the utimate coilovers alone. so just my 2 cents, i dont think those kits are worth it.

Very good in my opinion, not too soft not to rough. I feel the setup is very evenly match front to rear.

can you clairfy what weight springs and shocks (tundra, tacoma or 4runner) you used in the front end? thanks!

I have had the BOSS kit on my 4runner for several months now. I love the way it rides/handles. It is not cheap, but I wouldn't change anything if I had it to do over (other than trying install it without the proper equipment).

The reason people change suspension is because they buy heavy duty springs made for extra weight and dont have extra weight. Research and do it right the first time like I did. If you want a good ride you need too stick with OEM parts like lc coils, tokico shocks and trd tundra front shocks and coils.

If your like me and want more than 2.5" lift upfront you go with the 881 ome coils and comfort 90004 shocks that gives a little stiffer ride but handles washboard really good. I also love how the rear lc coil rides compared to everthing else on the market. Yes they are a little soft but a set of air bags fix that right up.

You also can buy new, you dont need used, I bought all new parts and still saved tons of money.

Where did you bought thr new lc coils. Part number?
I was thinking in getting them used but new is another option if they aren't expensive. Thanks
Pepe

I have the Tacoma 5100's and FJ Superflex coils. I love the ride of the setup and my friends and girlfriend even like the smoother feel to the ride. The truck also handles quite well on tight turns and sudden movement.

It certainly feels like quality components underneath...

I actually just installed my Toytec Ultimate lift yesterday. After the alignment I am very happy so far. I wanted the adjustablity of the coil-overs since my Shockworks bumper wont be in for a few more weeks. Also i can crank up the lift if the bumper makes the front sag more than I would like. Just my .02

x2 on this one. you're definitely paying a convenience fee when buying a kit.

rear - you can find LC coils for $50/pr
front - you can pay $165 for the 3" lift springs (3" is the highest you can go anyway)
diff drop is $30
5100 series shocks all the way around $400

then after that you have cash leftover for a locker.

Going this route vs. coilovers is only to save money correct? The BOSS system definitely adds more flex doesnt it?

I ordered everything separately. Eibach coils in front, superflex in rear, bilstein 5100 all around, bump stops, brake lines, and ome 10 mm spacer. Don't remember exact price. But all those parts came little less then the whole complete lift kit and I got lift kit + more.

Every time you readjust the front. You should get allogment. That's just how our front end is.

A full kit front and rear, either Boss or Icon Stage One seemed like the way to go to me. Mix and match, throwing this coil in with that shock didn't appeal to me. OME seemed like a good bang for the buck kit, but non-adjustable fronts and from what I've read less articulation than Boss, Ultimate, or Icon Stage One.

I used to install and sell lift kits and when it came down to these two kits
Boss kit
Ultimate lift
From toytec
The ultimate lift always came back with better feed back from my customers
I mean yeah you can piece things together but if your not really sure
Just get it once and be done
I've talked to the guys at toytec a lot about this recently cause I couldn't decide what to do on my personal rig.
I wanted flex and that's really it
Not planning on doing heavy bumpers
The toytec boys have done there research and by trail and error they have come up with the kits they have available
The threaded body shock isn't just to say you have a threaded body shock
It actually does provide more flex
My cousin has a 01 taco with the three step adj bilstiens and I went with the ultimate with super flex rear coils
On a forklift my rig does flex a full 2in more than his
Idk if that's cause he's a taco and I'm a runner or not
But like I said before the toytec boys have done there hw
But to each his own
If it works for you, it works for you.
