worthwhile customizations...?

I just got my 4Runner repaired since it was having some problems with it. But that got me to thinking. I wonder what all I can do with my 4runner and secondly what are some additions/customizations that I can add to my 4runner that would be absolutely 100% totally useful. Nothing for show, all for utility.

Here are some things I was thinking of:

1. top carrier Why: I can use this for easily transporting kayaks, surfboards, canoes
2. rear bike rack Why: I'll use this to transport my bikes (mountain bike, road bike)

So, that's all I can think of. Can you think of more or much more? I don't like speeding that much since I don't want to get a ticket but nevertheless if you have suggestions about customizations regarding engine performance/speed/etc. then please feel free to list them as well. My main point I stress is that whatever I do, I want it to be 100% totally for utility and not at all for show in any way. Thank you!

I was thinking more about some of the things that I could absolutely improve upon you experts would know about. (i.e. engine, suspension, etc. etc.) Things that a person who doesn't know anything about cars would not know but would greatly benefit 100% if they added/upgraded/etc. those things to the 4Runner.

Then again, maybe I could go on the page below and look for possible upgrades to every part listed:
