Would 265/70/17 look small

Planning to do a 3” toytec/blistein lift and 1” body lift
I’m torn between 3 tire sizes
255/75/17
285/70/17
And 265/70/17
I would be running 17x9 wheels with -12 offset
And i can’t decide if the 265s would look small
And would i need to do a body mount chop for the 285s as a daily driver with occasional hunting trails and Forrest roads

Here's a 3" lift + 1" body lift running 17x9 -12 wheels and 285/70-17 Exo Grapplers (33x11.5) Body mount chop, front fender liner pushed forward, minor front bumper trimming, and mudflap removal required for full suspension travel. You will not get away with this setup without a body mount chop (which isn't really a big deal, cut it and don't even need to weld a cap over it) but I think the other sizes you're looking at are too small for 4" of combined lift. Maybe just don't do the body lift if you want to keep tire size down.

Good looking Rig! Just curious, when do you hit the body mount (before you cut it)? Turning, or full suspension articulation turning?

It's actually the outer part of the tire that hits the body mount. For example turning right the outer couple inches of tread on the right tire will swing back and touch the body mount. Go out and crank your wheel all the way right then look at their relationship to the body mount and you'll see what I mean. They won't hit just sitting there, but any little bump they rubbed for me. It tends to be different based on actual tire size, alignment, and 4runner to 4runner variation.

Bad pic, but this is 265/70/17, with approx a 2.75" lift in the front and rear. I think it's a bit small at times, but like you, I wasn't really willing to do the body chop mod so soon.

A 275/70 tire would be a good compromise.

255/75/17 (32") or 255/80/17 (33" about same height as 285/70/17) are both taller but don't require body mount chop. They look a bit skinnier but are great on and off-road and are lighter (better mpg).

I’m going to have a shop install the lift kit because i don’t have the tools for it at this point (I only have a 300 piece craftsman set i keep in my storage box)
Is a body lift something i would be able to install on my own down the road or do i need the ability to jack the car off the ground at more than one point to be able to install the bodylift

/70/17 and a 2-2.25" lift look fine. youll probably need new ucas
