Would a 3rd gen sell quicker/for more in winter or spring?

I would assume spring. That’s when people are out and about. But in the states they usually hold their value year round. Or at least in my area.

My assumption is spring as well. Big purchases tend to be the slowest in the winter months, as many are financially hung over from Christmas, and winter has a way of making people not wanting to shop for things. I would wait until spr8ng, give your truck a good thorough detail, and put it up for sale. Curb appeal is everything when selling a ~20 year old vehicle.

For sure on that one. A good friend owns an auto shop... always dead this time of year, other than blown motors. Mods start happening after people get tax returns.

Hi im new here so I can’t start a new thread. I probably am not supposed to do this on another thread so sorry about this. Anyhow I just left the dealer and they have a 1999 limited green 4runner in really good shape with e locker. Brand new khomo tires 175k on the odometer for $4295. Is that a fair asking price? Again sorry posting this way. Any help would be great thanks

That would help you navigate some of the potential pitfalls in being a newbie 3rd Gen purchaser.
But for a quick suggestion, obviously drive it, but make sure to check out for rust underneath given it's location, who knows where it lived most of its life. Check fluids, especially engine coolant and trans fluid to look for evidence of a previous "pink milkshake".

Thanks for the help.. I did test drive it and it sounds good rides straight. I looked at the frame and it looks good minimal surface rust very minimal. I also took the vin to the Toyota dealer .. it had all the services done on time it showed new plugs new power steering rack in 2015 it did have a timing belt and water pump done a while ago. The only thing I noticed was when using the 4wd button on the shifter it makes a clicking sound in the rear I was on pavement going straight it has about a 10 second delay going into 4wd not sure if that is normal.

Very fair I paid 7 for the exact same thing but 2000 instead of 1999 lol. Literally same miles same color same e locker etc

Sounds like a solid truck. Is the clicking sound once or reoccurring? 4WD system might have taken longer to engage from the cold weather we're experiencing. Also have heard recently on here if you engage 4WD (just engage, then turn off) once a month, it keeps all the associated mechanical parts from sticking.
Full coverage vs liability only is only $200/year savings in Canada. (Full is $1600/year, 2M coverage). We don't have $300 policies like you do in the States.
Really? $7k usd for a 2000 with 175k?!
I'm asking $7k cdn.. 120k with elocker, some rust, but frame is virgin compared anything else up here.

it only clicks one time when you turn it on and one time turning ..off it does it everytime. I don’t know how often the 4wd was engaged it doesn’t seem to have ever been off-road.

Yep, people want a lot for 4runners here in the Bay Area. But it already had a lift, 33” tires and came with a few odds and ends (new brake pads/rotors/misc body panels etc).
That’s a good looking ride probably a not a bad deal with the lift ect..

The click is normal for engaging/disengaging 4WD , the locker makes it own click going in/out. Many 4wds don't work well or at all simply because they've not been used much, this one sounds like it was at least routinely. Mine took months before it actuated/disactuated on command.
I'd go for a 2nd drive and be ready to buy! Luck. :cowboy:
