Would a hole in muffler set off check engine light?

I've had codes for an evap leak fora while now. I tried new gas cap and replacing the evap canister with one from a parted out 4runner. The code has come back both times. I know I have a hole in my muffler, could that be setting it off?

I don't think so. The computer has no way of detecting that.

If you can get to the hole, you can try a temporary patch and see what happens.

No. After the rear o2 sensor, the computer doesnt care or know what happens with the exhaust

Post the Secondary O2 sensor is not monitored so that would not cause a CEL. It will just change the sound characteristic of the exhaust.
