Would a JL Audio 500/1 amp fit under the front seat?

My amp is 10.25 x 2 x 10 and it fits under the seat no problem. So you would have to have it stick out a little more in the back, but i would imagine that it would fit. It just robs the back seat of a little foot room, a sacrifice i was willing to make.

It would have fit but I would not have had access to the amps gains and controls. The rails are about 14 inches apart, so the JL amp might fit sideways but depending where the controls are you might not be able to do that. Plus the power and signal wires would have a tight fit between the rails.

i have the jl audio 300/4, its basically the same deminsion, ad i have it mount under my driver seat too, well its best that the rca jacks and controls on the amp face towards to the gas and brake pedals, thats how i had it on mines. why dont u put the 500/1 in the trunk ? build a lil amp rack and make it mount vertical, like on left of the of the left wheel well in the trunk? i assume u got a 3rg gen 96-02

Yes the 500/1 does fit under the front seat....At least in a 2004, I just put one there. And if you install it under the passenger side, with all the connections facing the door, you can actually still adjust the gains, x over and bass boost with the seat installed...you just need like a 10 inch flat head screw driver.
With the driver's seat motored fully back, no amplifier that I could find will fit under the seat of a 3rd gen with power seats. I have about 1.5 inches of room under the seat motor. Of course I'm too tall to put spacers under the rear brackets. My head hits the roof as it is. stupid sunroof.

Actually I did not consider the fact that power seats might not have the same clearance as manual seats??

Take all measurements under the seat first. LxWxH. From my experience: if the amp fits snug, don't get it.
Before you move forward with the purchase, think about the ease of installation too. Just because an amp can theoretically "fit" doesn't mean that you can install it correctly or easily. But that also depends on how stealthy or clean of an installation you are looking to get, what with all the connections and adjustments involved, it could get quite messy. For example: plan ahead and be prepared to make some slits in the carpet to run wires in/out of, keep your wiring alot longer than normal because you might have to connect them all before you slide the amp in place under the seat, etc, etc.
I'll see if I can get some pics up in the next few days of the Soundstream Picasso 1000D under the driver's seat and the 4.400 under the passenger's seat. They + the fused distribution block barely fit; and a clean, stealthy installation was a PITA, but it's all done now.
