Would this work for separating a bearing/hub?

As separating the old bearing and hub for a bearing replacement is the hardest part of the job, I thought of an idea....

If you left the truck parked in the cold (5-10*) overnight....Removed the axle nut and all the goods as you would just before you would pull off the hub/bearing assy normally...THEN (here is the twist)

Left bearing assy. bolted to the steering knuckle and hit the old bearing assembly with a torch, all the while pulling the hub away from the knuckle with a bearing puller...

Would the hub pull off the bearing?

How hard would it be to then pull the bearing off the knuckle?
