Would u wash your T4R with this

The Toyota Dealer has this, they seem to run all the car through it, brand new or customer cars, it seems to do a good job washing clean cars, does not really do the best washing dirty cars, I wonder if the new Lexus Dealer will have 1, that place has a 2 hour wait to get your car washed, is this the new thing dealers are doing, seems more dealers are adding them.

Yup, Rockland Toyota has one of those small carwashes on the premises....

It's just a shorter version of a regular commercial carwash though.

I only handwash my 4Runner, or if it's really cold, I'll bring it through the TOUCHLESS carwash at the Mobil station on RT. 59 in Nanuet. It's great for getting the salt off...

I will not go to a carwash that has any kind of brush or cloth that comes in contact with your car.

Check out the car wash at the Mobil station that I mention. It's $4 for a basic wash and it does a really good job at removing road salt.

I agree. Nothing but my own hands are touching my baby. Well.. that and my own wash mitt.

Its a complete personal preference. I'm sure that if the dealership is able to wash their cars time after time after time without causing any scratches, then go for it.

My Toyota dealer has one of those too, but it's huge. Mine only went through it once when it was new. I specifically request them not to wash it when I take it in now. I agree, no one but ME touches my car.

First off, they rip the hell out of ANYTHING that isn't flat. bye bye roof rack, antenna's, aux. lights, etc. if it doesnt rip it off, it doesnt wash around it.

Secondly, if the tornado-of-chammy didnt knock off the bug gaurd, the air jet dryers that run at mach 1.3 probably will. blasted my til it cracked and stood up strait. they refused to pay.

Third, every where you look, there is spot of grime, or a splatter that was missed which is now caked under the car wax that smells of pina colada.

Lastly, I don't want some SUV STD from some skanky Pacifica, whored out H2, or heaven forbid, one of those new trucks from honda. I dare not speak its name (its ford chevy and dodges new whipping bitch).


Went there once, and i do not intend to return. Stick with the mitt and a hose, its much better, or if nothing else, go to the power wash place and toss in 30 or 40 quarters while the thing beeps at you like an armed nuke.

Washing your car by hand also gives you a chance to check it over carefully, looking for scratches, dents, rust, cracks, scrapes, splits, spills, leaks, and dare i say, my sexy reflection in the shiney pannel, a symbol of a job well done. But if your 4runner is just a car to you, then why are your reading this in the first place. you must be lost.

Save you money, and your self respect. Your truck; you clean it!

A friend of mine went through one that had an antenna ripped off a car during a previous wash that day. The antenna was wrapped inside the brush and tore the next cars until someone finally noticed. The car wash ended up paying for a dozen paint repairs that day. Like others have said: NO WAY unless it is fully touchless (high pressure water only). Watch out for the final blow-off. It should also be touchless (no guide rolls along the hood & roof.)

I have no problems taking my 4Runner though the car wash. Have a great one around here called Delta Sonic. No spinning brushes but it has the kind that drag over the top.

I don't see the 4Runner as anything special like my S2000 was. I love the truck for what it is, but it's not some fancy limited production car.

It's the convenience of a car wash in Chicago, where I would never want to do it myself in the winter, or the summer for that matter. I'd much rather pay the 10-15 and get outta there.

I don't know if it's so much about being special as it is about keeping a new paint job as flawless as possible.

Commercial car washes tend to make very small, light scratches on paint (similar to swirl marks or spideweb scratches) and they are noticeable on darker colors. That's the reason that I avoid them. Plus, handwashing is sort of a ritual for me... I don't mind doing it at all on a warm, sunny afternoon.

I have never noticed any problem with taking my car through the car wash.I know some of guys love to hand wash and so do I but occansionally it is ok. Yall act like the car wash is just going to rip apart your car.

Handwashing is probably better but an ocanssional car wash is ok

My Toyota have never been back to the dealer. If it ever does, I will put a post-it on the steering wheel:

'Please do not Wash.'

and did you know that the donkin donuts across the street from the palisades mall that has that soft touch car wash next to it has those wash bays in the back, where you pay for the water and soap, never actually seen anyone back their:

The Mobil station (with touchless carwash) is on Rt. 59 in Nanuet.... next to Pathmark and McDonalds.

And yes, I've used those bays several times at the car wash across from the Palisades mall. But I usually just wash it at home.

The car washes w/ the big spinning brushes are bad news. If you visit one of these regularly all you have to do is look at your paint in the direct sunlight (look at it at all different angles) and you will see hair line scratches all over it. This is especially evident on dark colored cars. Hell, those fine swirls/ spiderweb scratches can accummulate with improper hand washing and drying alone.

As for the touchless wash, its definitly better than nothing. One problem with them is you never know how strong the soap solution is. If you are concerned with getting the most lasting durability out of your wax or sealant that you spent a great deal of time applying I wouldn't visit these type of washes too often. They tend to strip off wax fairly quick. Think about it... Nothing is touching your car so the soap solution has to be pretty strong to break down the grime and your wax/sealant will degrade quickly during this process. Just my .02

I don't use anything but a hose and bucket of soap. If you go to a car wash beware that they are probably using recycled water, so if it's winter time and there is a lot of salt on the road guess what? All that salt and crap is getting sprayed on your car. You might as well not even wash it that way. A better solution is to just rinse it off. If it is too cold to give a thorough wash. Then when it gets warmer, wash thoroughly.
