Would you buy a 2004 v6 w/ 190k?

I've read scores and scores of threads about this already. I've owned a 4runner in the past and know how bulletproof they are with regular maintenance.

It's listed: This beautiful SUV has 190000, mostly highway, miles! All maintenance is up to date and it runs smoothly. The KBB value on this is $8000 in "good" condition, but this SUV is in better than good condition!

Even though I know what I've read I feel like I need reassurance before I make an offer and give her a once over and test drive that 190k is OK.

i bought my v8 03 with 164k with a new OEM dealer trans installed at 143k for $5800, dealer serviced since beginning of its life. only thing to worry about on these v6 is bad head gaskets, thats a $3600 repair at the dealership

if its cherry, id buy it for the right price. 8000 is NOT the right price. 4000 is much better

FWIW, I purchased mine @ 72K miles. Had service records from 0 up to 50K. Nothing from 50-70K. I took a chance. It drove smoothly, very clean and it was the right price. I'm at 104K now it drives like a new truck.

Like [MENTION=93434]gshadow325[/MENTION] , my only concern would be the head gasket. My rig came with a print out of the cylinders of the motor. All the values were the same. Pretty sure this was a compression print out (didn't know what is was back then).

If the truck is in pristine condition, chances are its fine. Highway miles are always the best. My DD (07 Civic has 145K miles. I regularly maintain it myself and wash it often. It looks/drives like a new car. 95% highway miles)

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but here is my opinion: knowing HG issues with V6 models I would not buy V6 4Runner with 190K on it… and it is not just money (probably around $3K-$3.5K for HG), I just would never be able to have the trust in the truck…

Exactly. Agreed. Pass and find a v8 or 06+ v6.

I found a v8 03. 150k on the clock. they're asking 7450 + TTFs so it'll end up around 8. I know what the KBB is on it and I know it was in a minor accident. they wouldn't come off their asking price spite the carfax and the fact that it needs tires in the next few thousand miles (and the spare is blown out).

Not sure the market on 4th gens, but you think that's a fair price considering?

Fair, get a scan tool and check if the check engine light has been reset. See if it's ready for emissions testing. V8s.are notorious for leaking manifolds and cats going bad.

Solid, luckily we dont have emissions testing anymore in Ky.
