It doesn't look impossible but I'm sure there are parts of the regulation that won't be easy to comply with. I wonder how hard it is to get the various stickers and certifications required.

Fairly common. They usually fetch a premium price too, especially where I live.

Was quite common when the currencies were around par quite a few years back. I personally know only one real estate agent that bought a VW mini van without any issue but a ton of people that bought bass boats at that time as well. On boats there is little or no differences in regulations in Ontario.

The title pretty much says it all.. I need some advice. Would you guys risk buying a 3rd Gen knowing full well that the frame needs plating? The guy sent me these pictures today:

From what I can tell its fixable.. but will it be safe? Does anybody have experience with this kind of repair? The only thing that's making me even consider this deal is the price.. which is very, very fair.

No way unless you own a welder and know how to use it. Also structural knowledge is needed. Is that rust on the top side of the frame against the body also..? Then the whole frame will need to be exposed to repair it. Depends on the price, rest of the vehicle condition, and the investors skill whether it's a good investment or not. Being a welder I wouldn't want to f_ck with it. I'd rather build a whole new frame.

The frames can be repaired but I agree you have to not only know how to weld and understand structure basics. I saved several 3rd gens from the junk yards. As I wanted to not only improve my welding skills. I wanted to save a few. It's a very time consuming process. However, it cannot done as my build thread is full of photos and ways of doing rust repairs for the DIY folks.
