Would you buy another one ?

Just wondering with some of the issues that have cropped up ( on some ) if you had to do it all over again and buy a 4R or another Toyota ?

It kind of seems like Toyota is focusing on being number one in sales and not number 1 in quality anymore. Just my guess from reading stuff on here lately.

i will try lexus if i decide to pick a newer vehicle in the future.... but definitely keep my 4th gen... i love my 4R

Honestly, the 4Runner has been the best vehicle I've ever had in terms of reliability. I'm going to wait and see what the next generation is like, but if they come up with a good design I just might get another one. Especially if they come out with a diesal or even a hybrid (I would say that is a long shot) to help the fuel economy.

I bought my 4th Gen (2008) because of it's legacy in terms of reliability, dependability, ruggedness, better mpg than it's competitors, etc. I wouldn't want to drive anything else out there. I plan on running this baby into the ground, which hopefully shall be a very long time! I'm hoping 15 years or so...the longer the better!
In the future I'm hoping to buy the Toyota FT-HS Concept (future Supra?) when it comes out for a summer toy:

I bought my 4th Gen (2008) because of it's legacy in terms of reliability, dependability, ruggedness, better mpg than it's competitors, etc. I wouldn't want to drive anything else out there. I am really anxious to see what the 5th gens will look like. If they are just as reliable, and have a great design, I will most likely be buying another 4runner. But i'm only 19, and the 5th gens still have a few years to go, so it wouldn't be for at least 5 years before I took up another vehicle. Love my 4runner. :bigok:

I have just purchased my second 4Runner, so a big ol' YES to your topic question. Prior to my current 4th Gen, I owned a 96 model 3rd Gen and I received such great service from it that there was no way that I could convience myself to buy anything different. The 96 had 204,000 miles on it whenever I traded it in, and the only issues that I had with it were a bad heater core at 110,000 miles, a bad AC evaporator core that went out at 180,000, a bad ball joint that went bad at 190,000, and a short 4" steering stablizer bar on the passenger side that broke twice....with the latter two issues being expected results from the Daystar 2.5 inch lift that I had installed.

Quality is very subjective, especially the JD Power quality rating. I buy Toyota's for reliability/dependability as well as resale value. I'll buy another 4Runner again.

I would buy the "new" Land Cruiser 70 in a heart beat

It is a snorkel, actually, for the air intake. You never want to cross water where the water depth is above the air intake on your truck. By using a "snorkel" you can cross deeper water without ruining your engine.

Yeah I know what a snorkel does, I was just curious is that's what is was. It's different than any that I have ever seen.

I'm sure you know this already, but the 4Runner is pretty much rock-solid in terms of reliability, even up to the current year. Toyota's quality problems seem to be isolated to a couple of new generation vehicles like the Camry. But even with a few quality concerns, they are still heads and shoulders above the average vehicle.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another 4Runner again. I'm also curious to see how the 5th generation turns out. But if something happened to my current 4th gen, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Sold my 2005 Sport V8, missed it and although I could have bought any vehicle, bought a 2007 Limited. V8 of course!

Same color; Miss the hood scoop and the Sport did handle a bit better! Still love the new one just as much;

Does your Limited have X-REAS?

If so, what do you attribute the handling difference to?

LOL..... I'll still be in my lease next year at this time so I won't have a choice, and actually my plan is to just buy it because of I will be way under miles leased ( like about 25k ) so I'll be dammed if I'm gonna give that to them for free. Plus I like most features about it and I do feel its built pretty fricken tough. I take great care of my trucks but I do put them through a lot of crap. I've never second guessed and love driving it , even look for excuses to drive it. My problem a while ago was getting a bigger vehicle ( only for taking my dad places mainly ) I solved that problem ( see sig.)


Mainly I curious because of what I was reading here about the Toyota quality. Its a fun truck and I like it , great on/off road. I wish it a few other features and wish it didn't have some I have .

Even though I've had a few quirks and multiple trips to the dealer , its mostly because I have to take it back with the TSB to show them its an issue. I also had to do that with the brakes about the springs nobody knew about............mostly dealers fault , not the trucks.

I must add at 37k miles and some good off roading , its just a tight and rattle free as day 1 !!

I would like a little lift , but all in due time.

I would also like a Tacoma DC sport 4x4 SB and an FJ to add to the fleet too

Yep. My son will inherit my truck when he gets his license and I will get myself another T4R.

Next one will be BLACK!!!
