Yep, you should definitely start modding it. Like others said, maintenance first the let the fun begin. I've done some heavy modifications to my cars in the past and finally gave up on them because they always gave me issues. If you treat a 3rd gen right, it will treat you even better for many years to come. Miles ain't no thing.

I supercharged mine at 170k, loving it! The first thing I did to mine was a tranny cooler to avoid the milkshake scenario.

I just dumped $2050 of icon suspension and will most likely rebuild some of the front which will cost an addition ~$500. I'm at 207k.

Before we jump off the deep end, it should be noted for the OP that nobody is going to see the money we are putting into our trucks ever again. This is purely for our enjoyment and should not be where you drop your last hundred bucks. There isn't some magic page on KBB where you can enter all the cool stuff you did to your truck and expect someone is going to pay you a premium to cover all your expenses and time.

ON THE OTHER HAND...with preventative maintenance and generally taking care of your vehicle, it should last a very long time- at 200k your truck is just getting broken in- for you to enjoy all the cool stuff you want to do to it. Technically speaking you can just keep replacing components as they wear out and your T4 will last pretty much forever...

Quick question, is an external tranny cooler really for 4wd or recommend for 2wd as well?

Make sure your timing belt has been replaced - look for sticker in engine compartment and see when it was replaced.

Definitely do an external tranny cooler if not already done. Search "pink milkshake" and you will see why - make this priority #1.

Tranny fluid flush and change if you're not sure when last done.

As mentioned, do a search on gen 3 preventative maintenance and you will see plenty of other suggestions.

I'll be honest...mechanically I'm pretty illiterate. Is the tranny cooler something a novice can do? I did a search and looks like the B&M brand is popular and I will also need to get additional 8 ft hose. Do instructions come with it?

Yes, really easy.. Just a matter of draining fluids, re-routing some hoses and zipping the B&M to the radiator. The grill comes off really easy, use a small flathead to press the clips down and pops right off for much better access.
