Confused as to how you didn't break a CV before the front diff?

The CVs are made to be the weak point in the system. If you didn't break them, then you either have some Herculean CVs, or something.

The rear, breaking one of those is tough. But good job doing it.

:shrug: fluke, strange angle/situation, and only 2 wheels worth of traction (one of which was completely stuffed) along with forcing it to work 100% for a good while. I dunno how the CV's stayed in tact, but that's life right? Don't always expect the norm...

Although if a CV broke, I don't know how I would've gotten it off the trail, since (A) I didnt have a spare or the right tools to remove one, (B) It would've been a completely unsafe spot to work on a CV, and (C) it was in a spot that I doubt many tow trucks would even try getting to. So as far as getting it back down the trail to the road, it worked out.
