Center console lid if in good shape. Cheap ones are hard to find.

Spare ICM, spare throttle body assembly complete with the IAC and TPS.
Spare ABS module.
Spare multi-function switch. AKA the thing with the turn signal and windshield stalks on them.
Spare complete instrument cluster.
If you are one of those guys that almost run your vehicle out of gas....get a tank sending unit and spend the money on a quality fuel pump to put in it.
Spare ignition coils

I'd get the relatively expensive (new OEM) but small things that can completely kill you dead in the water or make it dangerous for you to drive. Things you can keep in the glove box or where ever without hurting for space. Things that the dealers don't keep in stock and the parts houses might not either, so you'll be waiting on something shipped, possibly after a tow home.
Get:
-All the 'special' relays from the fuse boxes
-Brake Booster Check Valve
-Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF)
-Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
-O2 sensors (possibly, if you can prove they're good)
-Ignition coils
A bit harder to fix on the fly, but:
-Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR)
Cosmetics:
-Stock up on little clips, etc
-bulbs (brake light, reverse, dome light, etc) If you can score bulbs from someone whose done an LED upgrade, all the better
-plastic seat 'feet' covers
-If it's a Limited with power seats, get the driver's side plastic seat cover. There's a clip here that breaks off so the whole cover pops off, adjuster lever with it
Someone mentioned vac lines and that's a good idea. Nothing is a bigger pain in the ass than working on the truck and putting it all back together only to have a 20 year old perfectly bent/molded vac line just snap in half on you. Then you have to make another parts house run (possible in another vehicle) just to get the new line.
'Treasure' from other Toyotas: I know that the MAF from a 2003 Rav4 is the exact same one as the 1999+ 4runner (I think the MAF style changed in '98?). I think I heard that the Avalon fits also.
Get:

I find it cheaper to just buy a entire wreck and strip it down and scrap everything else for $500 u can typically get some amazing stuff

I kept the 96 when it got T-Boned for that reason. Everything crosses over to the two 97’s I ended up with

For the 97 get the 99-02 center console with cup holders (if they have one in the right interior color).

- center console
- hand brake (e-brake)
- tub that e-brake attaches bolts into
- bracket that mounts the center console

Yeah thats what I prefer. I just keep mine and pick away at it. I'm on my 2nd one. The wife said she's sick of looking at it, so I covered it with a tarp. I hope she likes green tarps.

Yea I strip all the good stuff off and hid it in my basement ha ha.. You can use a broker and go online to these online auction and get butt load of pretty nice project trail rider, I think thats my next step..

I'm up here in the rust belt, so we've got an abundance of cheap parts rigs. Going rate for a frame damaged from rust, but otherwise good is $500. This one I got for $550 I talked him down from $900, 2000 5 speed, new clutch and other stuff, 230K, runs great.
